Chapter 9

Alanzo's P.O.V.

I went to go check on Mai. She said that she was going to her room. I got there and she wasn't there. Maybe she went back to our room.

I walked all the way to the other side of the building just to get back to my room. I went inside and she wasn't there.

I ran to Talia and Daniel's room. I knocked on the door rapidly. "What?!" Talia said with anger opening the door.

"Where is Mai?"

"I don't know. The last time I saw her was when we were at breakfast."

"Do you think she left?" I asked her and then her eyes grew big.

"Um...uh...no. Well I guess I'll see you later. Bye." She tried closing the door.

"What aren't you telling me?" I used my alpha command to make her obey me.

"Okay, well, I might have, accidentally, told we that she should leave if she needed to but I didn't think that she was actually gonna do it. I'm sorry." I growled in frustration.

"Why would you do that?" I ran my head through my hair. "Do you at least know where she could have gone?"

She looked away. She was hiding something else. "What else are you hiding?"

She bit the inside of her cheeks, "Well she could be anywhere by now."

"What? I'm not understanding."

"Mai has her ways of getting to places quickly."

"And what is her way?"

"She is going to kill me if I tell you."

"Tell me! Or I will."

"First off, if you kill me, I'm pretty sure Mai would hate you. And I'm more scared of Mai than you."

"Why would you be afraid of your friend more than me?"

"You wouldn't be able to imagine."

"Just tell me and I promise that she won't hurt you."

Talia shuffled on her feet. Thinking about her consequences. "Are you sure?"

"Yes I do."

"She has powers and one of her powers is teleporting. She could be anywhere in the world right now."

I punched the wall making a hole. Ugh! Why and how could she do this?

"Where could she be right now?"

"I'm not sure."

"Where has she always wanted to go?"

She thought about it. "She has always wanted to go to a place that is hot. And we have only been in the United States. There is only one state that she hasn't visited that is hot."

"And what state is that?"

"Texas."

Mai's P.O.V.

I woke up and was energized. I felt like doing something. I had to choose between running or going for a swim.

I went to go get dressed. I just put my bikini on under my shorts and T-shirt.
I left the hotel room and started running in the seawall.

I felt free but I also felt horrible. I was hoping this run would make me feel better. I kept running.

I then noticed the water. It wasn't the cleanest water that you would have seen. I was happy to be in the present of an ocean though.

I then bumped into someone and fell on my butt. "I am so sorry Miss. I wasn't looking."

He helped me get up. "No it's my fault too. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going."

I finally looked up to the guy. He was good looking but not as good looking as Alanzo. I could tell by his scent that he was human.

"My name is Derek. And yours?"

"My name's Mai."

"Nice to meet you. Would you like to go get something to eat?"

"Uh." I didn't know if this was a good idea or not. "Sure, why not."

"Cool. I'm going to take you to the best seafood place in the city." He grabbed my hand and we both ran to a restaurant. It didn't look fancy but hole-in-the-wall restaurants are always the best.

The place was called, "Benno's On The Beach." It was a long line so in guessing that's a sign that it was good.

"Do you like crawfish?" Derek asked me.

"Yeah."

"Cool. We are going to share a crawfish basket."

Derek ordered the food and we sat outside. I was kind of worried because there was a lot of birds outside. I didn't want to get pooped on.

"It's okay. You won't get pooped on." Derek said like he was reading my mind.

I chuckled, "I hope not."

"Well are you from here?"

"No I'm from Chicago."

"Oh, why are you down here?"

"I have always wanted to live in the heat and I guess now I have a chance to visit."

"Why Galveston?"

"Because it's in a very hot state and it has a beach. Well the beach could use some work but it's fine for now."

He chuckled, "That is said a lot. Well I have to show you around Galveston. If you don't mind?"

"No that would be fine." Our food was then served.

We are the crawfish. It was actually pretty good. I had to eat slowly so Derek wouldn't be freaked out by me.

After we finished eating we walked back to my hotel. It was getting dark.

"Can I pick you up tonight to show you some fun?"

"Yeah."

"I'll pick you up at 7 then."

"Okay." I went in my room and sat down on the bed. I had three hours till Derek was going to pick me up. I went to the pool to make time go by.

I got down there and I felt eyes on me. I didn't know who it was but I knew someone was looking at me.

I took my shirt and shorts off and got in the pool. I swam to the waterfall they had. I sat under it and let the water fall on my face.

The water felt good falling in my face. Then I had this feeling that I should go back to Alanzo.

"We need to go back." Athena said.

"No. This is for the best."

"Are you sure? Or are you just scared of what's ahead?"

"Damn, stop reading my mind."

"Well it's part of my powers."

"Really? I can read people's minds?"

"Duh. That is part of telepathy dumb ass."

"No need for the mean names."

"Anyways, I think Alanzo is near but I don't know. Just be in the look out."

"Thanks Athena."

I went back to my room and got dressed. Waiting for Derek to come get me.
