The Real Chapter 14

Alanzo's P.O.V.

I was kind of nervous for meeting Mai's family. I usually don't get nervous for anything but I need for her family to love me. It might be weird cause I'm the odd one out. I'm not trying to be racist or anything but I would be the only different race in the family.

I went to my room to get ready for dinner. I got a dress shirt and some slacks to wear for tonight. I was going to go shower but I heard Mai in there so I went to one of the bathrooms in the hallway.

I took my shower, got dressed, and now I'm waiting for Mai to get out the bathroom. My palms were getting sweaty and my mind kept on thinking of 'What if's'. I don't know what's gonna happen tonight and I'm not really prepared for it.

Mai finally came out and she looks stunning. She's wearing a forest green strapless dress. It flows all the way down to her feet. The dress wasn't tight but you could still see her curves through it.

I can't do this

"You ready?" She asked me.

"Uh....um..uh."

"You're nervous, aren't you?"

"Yeah. I'm just afraid that they won't like me. What if I say something wrong?"

"Just relax. Be yourself. Don't try to impress them. If they ask you a question, tell the truth but not too much of it."

I kind of relaxed at what she said. "Okay, I can do this. Let's go."

I put my arm out and she grabbed it. I guided her to the dining room where all her friends and family are at.

Mai's P.O.V.

I could still sense that Alanzo is still nervous but not as much as he was earlier. I hope he notices that I have a really friendly family and I mean REALLY friendly. They will talk to anyone about anything no matter where we are at. One time we were at a concert and my dad went to go get some food and he came back with this gothic kid and introduced us to him. My dad was like "We should hang out sometime" and they actually did and still do sometimes. It was a good thing that the kid was a werewolf so he would suspect anything from my dad's animalistic behavior. I would tell y'all why I say that but that story is for another time.

We are now at the dining room doors. Alanzo stares at it and doesn't move. I tried to drag him through but he wouldn't budge. "Sweetie I know you're scared but you don't have to be. My family is really going to love you. Have they gave you any hints that they won't?"

He looked in thought and it looked like his nervousness lifted up a little. "You're right. They haven't even give me a look of disgust when I met them earlier."

"That's what I'm trying to tell you. Now let's go inside and have some fun." He smiled and I decided to give him a quick kiss for encouragement. His smile got even wider and he walked in the room like it's a regular day.

Alanzo sat on the end of the table. I sat by him on one side and the other side was his father. Next to me was Fredrick and Quinton with Hazel and William in front of them. Daniel's, Talia's, and my family were scattered throughout the table. It's a pretty big table now that I look at it. It fits the whole pack and then some.

"Hey Mai, long time no see." Hazel said.

I chuckled, "It's only been a couple of days."

"But a lot can happen in a couple of days."

"True true."

"You owe me a day out. We have to get to know each other now that you're mates with my friend."

"Yeah sure we can hang out tomorrow."

"Yep that's great."

"And we're coming too." Fredrick said pointing to himself and Quinton.

"Yeah, we also need to get to know her." Quinton said.

"Well I guess tomorrow is Get To Know Mai Day." I said and everyone had a little chuckle.

"I guess I'll come too because we still need to know more about each other." Alanzo said.

"Okay then. Anybody else wanna come tomorrow?" William raised his hand. "I would like to come, if that's alright?"

"That is fine. I can't wait." I said all giddy.

Now the food was being served. We were having T-bone steaks with mash potatoes and some type of pasta that I didn't know of. I tasted the pasta and it was like heaven in my mouth. I ate the pasta first but since my parents are here, I can't eat like I usually do or I will get scolded.

After about 30 minutes of eating I was finished. I know that's the minimum I can go with my parents around.

Alanzo was also finished and was looking down the table. Not scared, not nervous, but happy. I looked down the table and saw my dad and his dad having a good conversation. They seemed like they knew each other for some time but who knows. They were now walking out way and I quickly wiped the food away from my mouth so my father wouldn't say anything.

"Mai! You didn't tell me Urbano was Alanzo's father." My dad scolded me.

"Um I didn't know that you knew him."

"Do you remember that story about meeting your mom?" He asked me. Oh yeah, that horrid story.

"Yeah, so?"

"This is my friend that helped me through it." My dad said while smiling at Urbano.

"Really? You're the one that helped my father?" I got up and the quickly hugged Urbano. "Thank you so much." I said but my words were kind of mumbled due to my face being stuffed in his shoulder.

"No problem sweetie but now your family needs to get to know Alanzo so why don't you guys head to the living room and talk."

"Alright let's go." Alanzo said and grabbed my hand. We waited for my family to leave first and then we left.

"Don't worry sweetie. You got this."
