A Love Story Part 2

My heart hurts,
It really does.
I can't explain,
The pain I feel,
Because the girl I love has found another.
One so different from me.
I said I would give up,
From the race to win her heart.
I guess I never prepared,
For the pain I'll feel,
When someone wins the race.
I don't know what to do.
I'm so lost,
So confused.
I'm lost in a sea of pain,
and I don't know how to break free.
She's my first love,
And I know it'll end badly,
But can't I dream of something more pleasant?
Of being with her to the end?
But thats all it'll ever be,
A dream,
A wish,
Never reality.
All I can see through the swarm of tears,
Is that I hope she's happy.
Never sad.
I hope it doesn't end in heartbreak,
But if it does.
I'll be ready,
To make her feel better.
No matter the troubles.
I'm not angry,
Just really sad.
I'll still greet her with a smile.
I'll still talk to her lover.
I'll make sure,
To never show,
The pain I feel,
At being forgotten.
I guess in her heart,
I wasn't a choice.
Just a friend,
To be there,
Through the better,
Or worse.
With this poem,
I say goodbye,
To the girl,
My love,
To what will never be.
I'll always,
Dream of the what ifs.
I'll always be,
So sad,
Unhappy,
With my decision to hide my heart,
To cover it up,
From the one I love.
Maybe someday,
I'll find somebody,
Who'll cherish and love me,
With all their heart.
Until then I'll wait,
With tears down my face,
For the girl I lost,
The one who stole my love.
