This is a short um story? I wrote it and my friend told me to post it here so um yea I hope you enjoy. Sorry it doesn't make the best of sense I'll explain at the end.

Silence. No sound was heard other then the footsteps of the child that was running through the dark corridor. Left, right, left again, then right. Each direction led to another long and dark path. The maze seemed endless.

The child could barely make out the shapes of his feet. Running their fingers over the smooth wall to check for an incoming corner. Bruises and scratches littered the the small boy's body from the unexpected meetings with the floor and walls. With each step the child's breath became more and more erratic.

Alone. That one word bounced around the child's head. Tears spilled from the boy's eyes as the engulfed the child's judgement. No one was there to guide a path for the small child. "Momma," the child's soft voice said into the darkness. Disappointment clawed at the child's heart when no voice answered.

Fear. It consumed the child's mind, body, and soul leaving nothing untouched. Whimpers escaped the small boy's mouth as the child ran. The darkness obscuring the child's vision. No one was coming and the silence was terrifying. Sweat was pouring down the child's small forehead and the boy was just about to give up when they heard it.

A sweet sound that erased the child's fears. "Come on sweetheart. Just a little further and it'll be all over. You can do it honey. I believe in you." With renewed determination the child ran in the direction of the voice.

Excitement. It lit up the child's expression. It erased the child's fears and removed the loneliness. The excitement seemed to fill the silence. The child forgot all of his dark thoughts at the idea of seeing momma again.

Hope. It filled the child to the brim. It brought happiness and delight. Images flashed in front of his eyes. A brown haired woman with a beautiful smile. The feeling of safety and love in her as she sang a wonderful song. She disappeared a while back but maybe just maybe she returned to end the suffering and pain. Light appeared from around a corner and the child ran faster.

Desolation. Emptiness and crushing loneliness filled the child's once happy mind as the mother was no where in sight. Tears began to build up as sobs tore through the child's throat. Shaky legs finally collapsed.

The pain, the suffering, and all the loneliness crushed the child's hopes and innocence. The emotions weighed the child down until he was screaming and sobbing on the floor. "Momma! Momma! MOMMA!" Adults surrounded the broken child and carried him away just in time before the next hopeful child appeared.

Thats the end of the short story. I hope you enjoyed. Now for those of you guys confused I don't actually have an explanation for what's happening. Its all up to you. What do you think is happening?
