While I was lying in my bed I couldn't help but think why did he get so angry. Was it just because I wasn't talking to him or did it go deeper than that? What demons was he hiding that he has such a short fuse if he was upset about what we did in the kitchen, or was it the talk we had after the fact? I was trying to wrap my head around every possibility to understand why he got so angry. But what I did know is that I did not deserve what he did to me at all and I was determined to tell him how I felt and where he went wrong.
Text Message Jace:
We need to talk,
Yeah I think so too,... I'm on my way to pick you up.
Wait, from my house? It's 2 in the morning, we can't just talk on the phone or Facetime?
Be ready in 5 mins.
Just before leaving, I walked into Stacey's room to see if she was sleeping. "Aspen is that you what's wrong.?" She asked me barely awake. "Oh nothing umm I'm going out for a bit I will be back," I told her as she sat up taller in her bed. "Okay, but what's wrong is everything okay do you need my car?" She asked me confused rubbing her eyes to get a better view of me. "No, no umm Jace is here we're just going to talk about some things." she looked at me wondering why I even wanted to see him let alone talk to him. "Okay well be safe and if you need anything just give me a call" Stacey smiled and tucked back under her blanket. Just as I opened the door Jace was already standing on the front porch.
"Do you want to come in?" I offered and he walked into the house making his way up the staircase to my room. I couldn't help how fast my heart was beating I didn't even know where to start what was I going to say. "Hey, I didn't appreciate how you treated me?" No, I couldn't say that it would just fuel a screaming match and wake my mom up, and then we're both done for. We sat in silence for a good while before breaking the silence. I sat on my bed wrapped up in my blanket and he sat in the pink fuzzy chair that sat lonely in the dark corner of my room. "You can sit on the bed you know,...I don't bit." I gestured towards the bed and he shook his head.
"Why weren't you talking to me?" he asked me "Jace my phone bro--" Before I could even finish my sentence he finished it for me "Broke I know Journey told me, but why did I have to hear it from him rather than you."
"Well maybe because you didn't give me a chance to even explain." I got up from the bed throwing the blanket on the floor. Jace got up from the chair following me to my bathroom I could smell the alcohol on him. "Are you drunk?" I asked him surprised that he would even put his life in danger like that and not only his but others. When I looked into his eyes all I saw was emptiness nothing more. He leaned in grabbing my face for a kiss and I pulled away. "No you're drunk here sit down and I will get you some water." Just as he leaned down to sit on my bathroom floor he vomited everywhere.
"oh my gosh Jace here come on get up" I struggled to pull him up from the floor but this boy was a lot heavier than he looked.
"There's two of you" he muttered and then fell over into his pile of vomit face first.
