"Stop trying to fix me..." It's not that I was trying to change him I just simply wanted him to see my side of the story. Why doesn't he get that in my eyes he is perfect? "Aspen,..... hello, ASPEN" Stacey yelled finally getting my attention. "Yes...I'm here sorry...Umm, I was just uhh" "Thinking about who? Jace?" I didn't want to tell my sister yes because it has been a week since we last talked so thinking about him would be kinda stupid....so I pivot.
"What no.. uh I was just thinking about this paper that I have due in my English class tomorrow" I look at Stacey hoping that she will believe me. Not saying that it all was a lie I did have a paper due for Professor Hamilton's class and I have not even started it. "Okay, so what is said paper about, and have you even started it, Aspen?" She takes her eyes off the road to glance at me. I couldn't do anything but smile at the fact that my sister knew me so well.
"No, I haven't started yet but..."
"Oh my gosh Aspen it's due tomorrow what the hell have you been doing I see you on your computer typing your little heart away for hours what the hell are you even doing on there if you're not doing your homework"
"I'm just writing down my feelings that's all" I smile and she just rolls her eyes and laughs.
"How are you and Journey doing?" I asked her string to take the pressure off of me.
"Ummmm we're okay..."
"Okay? why just okay what's going on" I asked very concerned Stacey has never been like this when it came to boys she usually doesn't care.
"I mean Journey is Journey it's like one moment he's an open book and then the next....."
"He's distant I know the feeling...look Journey is one of those guys who kinda close themselves off when they think you don't like them."
"He thinks I don't like him....why"
"I don't know but what I do know is that he is an overthinker and he is just probably thinking he shared too much and is maybe trying not to show you how much he likes you," I explain to Stacey hoping that she doesn't give up on him. She needs Journey and he needs her she has to understand.
"I get it I do the same thing Aspie, but when someone else is playing your game it's scary" she laughs and nudges my shoulder. As we pull up to Rush we see the person we were just now talking about. Once Journey sees the car pull up he runs to the car and opens Stacey's door with quickness.
"My lady," he said smiling guiding Stacey out of the car he gave me a quick wave and we all made our way into the coffee shop.
