After the man leaves, you run your fingers through your hair and take a deep breath, trying to process everything.

What happened at the war that I lost this badly?

I barely got any injuries before, and now it almost cost my life. If it weren't for these pirates, I would be-

I have to leave as soon as I can and find answers. They won't hurt me, but this isn't safe. And I still have so much to do.

I will have to go home.

Your throat closes, and you shiver from the last thought, glaring at the floor opposite you.

Sabo.

You don't have more time to think because the pirates fall into the room like a massive wave from the sea.

Your eyes widen, and you recoil to the wall subconsciously.

Then shriek when the polar bear jumps at you with unworldly happiness.

He squeezes the air out of your lungs, and the bed breaks into pieces under you. Your scream muffles into a desperate yelp.

"BEPO, YOU'LL KILL HER!" yells the rest of the crew, grabbing the mink to free you.

You wobble scaredly, but the mass of white fur is everywhere around you.

"I'm so glad you're awake, [Y/N]!! I read you a bedtime tale every night!" laughs the bear.

All you can answer is groaning like an ancient sofa with broken strings on its way to the rubbish heap.

The others finally drag him away, and you can gasp for air, laying your palm over your aching chest.

Fuck.

"How's your attitude?" shouts Law from the corridor, hearing your death rattle.

You.

"Why is she wheezing?" asks Bepo, tilting his head in confusion.

You cough heavily and stand up with slightly trembling legs, leaning against the wall for support. The world orbits at a fastly around you.

"Do you remember me? I'm Penguin."

"Shachi!"

"Jean Bart."

"I'm Ikkaku!"

"Uni."

"Clione."

"Stop!" you cry out, and they frown. "I just... you think I have enough memory for this?"

"But what if you wanna ask us something?" asks Penguin, the only one you remember.

It's written on his hat, after all.

"I'll use the universal name," you shrug. "Let me present."

They step closer, and you smirk, catching a man's shoulder.

"Oi, you."

"Me?"

"You see?"

"What?"

"You all don't get my humor," you blink at them, taking a deep breath. You have never met such a friendly pirate crew. "But listen, your Captain said you'll drop me off at Sabaody. I'm just passing by."

'We were going to Sabaody anyway, to enter the New World," says one of them. "We should be there soon."

Your heart misses a beat.

Couldn't he tell me this?

"And don't act like you don't know us, [Y/N]," snorts one of them, and you laugh, shaking your head.
