New beginnings

Chapter 1

It was my first day at Seattle Grace. I was really nervous, but I knew that my friend, Nathan's, brother Derek is working here. We grew up together and ever since Nathan went into the military Derek and I have been getting closer. I arrived at the hospital and went to the intern locker rooms. I changed into my light blue scrubs and tried to find people who had 'the nazi'

"Who do you have" a dark haired woman asked

"The nazi" I said

"Oh I have the nazi. I'm George" a man said

I turned around and looked at him

"Meredith" I said

"Well there's only like 5 women and one of us is a model so that's going to be hard with the respect thing, I'm Cristina by the way" she said

I nodded. The residents started calling everyone's names. We went to the nazi with Izzie who is the model and Alex who's a dick. I remember them, vaguely, but I do remember.

1 hour later

The nazi was killing us. I found out her name is Dr. Bailey. I was in the pit because she made us go and she was pregnant which was terrible. She was extra moody and would sleep all the time.

"Major trauma coming to the ambulance bay. Page neuro" someone said to a nurse.

I followed the doctor and went outside to the ambulance bay. I gowned and gloved. The ambulances started arriving. I went behind the car with Cristina, Izzie, George, and Alex.

"John doe, head lac and coded about 2 times since we put him into the ambulance" the paramedic said bringing the gurney out

"The victim is in the ambulance behind us" he said

"Victim?" I asked

"Yes this guy tried to rape her and she almost killed him" he said

"Good for her" I said

The doctor brought the guy inside and I waited for the girl. She came and the paramedic brought her out

"I'm so glad that you're here. She doesn't want men to be around her" she said bringing the woman out

"Hi I'm Dr. Grey do you care if a friend of mine sees you. He's a neuro surgeon" I asked

She shook her head no

"Okay" I mouthed

I brought her in and took her to a trauma room and paged Dr. Arizona. She came in

"Hey what's going on" she asked

"Rape victim" I said

"Oh you're the hero" she said

She checked her eyes.

"You can go Dr. Grey. I'll be here with her" she said

"Okay" I said

I left and went to the guys room. Derek, Owen, and Alex were holding him down. He was screaming and yelling trying to get away. I looked at him

"What are you doing bitch" he spat

He lunged forward and grabbed me. He threw me to the ground and got on top of me. I put a good hit into his cheek. He hit me and the guys were trying to get him off. He hit me again and Derek threw him off of me. I haven't seen him this angry. He got on top of him and started pounding his head in.

"Derek stop" owen said

"Dr. Shepherd" he said loudly.

Derek stopped and got up. The guy was passed out on the ground. He brought him up and put him onto the bed

"I'll take it up with Richard" he said

He looked at me and helped me up. He left and I followed him. I heard the guy coding in the room.

"Derek hold on" I said

He turned around and looked at me. He put his finger under my chin and held my head up

"Shit. Come into this room" he said staring at my face

He brought me into a patients room and I got onto the bed. He wrapped his hand and lifted my head up. He started cleaning the cut on my cheek. It stung, but wasn't too bad. Everything went black almost immediately. I woke up and I was laying on the bed. Derek had a CT scan and looked at me.

"Hey how are you" he asked

"I feel like I have a concussion" I said

"You do, but it's being treated" he said

"Aw wow great first day" I said sarcastically

"Yeah" he laughed

I grabbed the scan. It was clear.

"It's not crazy, but it's still a concussion so just take it slow. I trust you so let me know that I'll still be able to because I know how much you love being a doctor" he said

"I understand. I'll take stuff slow. How long" I asked

"Just for today and I'll check you tomorrow" he said

"You still have your job?" I asked

"Yeah it was self defense and since you are like a daughter to Richard he took it nicely. He wants to check on you later" he said

"Nope" I said

I took my bloody shirt off and he turned around.

"It's not like you haven't seen it before" I said

"Yeah, but I respect you" he said

"Mmm sure" I smiled

We never had sex, but we've made out a bunch. We were about to take it to the next level, but I couldn't. It was so quick and he wanted more. All I wanted to do was have fun and have sex with a bunch of people which I did. He did the same and we ended up just being friends.

"How's Nathan" I asked

"He's doing good. He really likes the army and it's good for him to be disciplined" he smiled

"Oh yeah I forgot about that" I laughed

I started wincing

"Ooo wait hold on" he said pushing onto my stomach.

He pulled the blanket down and looked at my stomach. It was bruised. He felt the tender part and I winced. He grabbed a electric ultrasound machine and put gel into my stomach as I laid back. He turned the machine on and moved the wand over my abdomen.

"There's no free fluid so that's good" he said looking at the machine more and more.

He turned it off and wiped the gel off.

"You're good, but it's really bad bruising" he said handing me a clean scrub shirt.

"You really did get him good. I was like damnnnn girl I didn't know you had it in you, but you prove me wrong everyday. I'm glad we're finally working together" he said

"Me too. I can't wait to see what happens" I said

"Yes i need to get you to work on my cases soon. I've seen your work and it's so amazing. It's going to be such a great pleasure to work with you Dr. Grey" he said

"You too Dr. Shepherd" I smiled shaking his hand

"Don't fall asleep" he said

"I know" I said

He left and I got off of the bed. This was going to be a long day.

I just looked at my 'merder best of love story' to complete it and mature wasn't on 👀
