New beginnings

Chapter 19

It was Halloween. Dereks nieces and nephews were coming over in today. There were a lot of nieces and they love me. I adore them. We put the Halloween decorations up and I've been getting a weird vibe lately. I think my mom is haunting me. I got up from the bed and started getting ready for work. The bedroom door shut on its own and Derek was at work. She was definitely haunting me. I grabbed the ziplock bag from her urn. I put it into my pocket. I went downstairs and ate a bowl of cereal. I went to work and changed into my scrubs. I walked to the nurses station and looked down. Someone turned the corner and I dropped my ashes because I ran into them.

"Shit" I said bending down

"Meredith" he said

I looked up at him.

"Hey" I said looking back down and trying to put my moms ashes back into the baggie

Derek bent down and helped me.

"What is this" he said

"Nothing" I said

"Meredith" he said

"It's my mother" I said looking at him

"Whattt" he said concerned

"What should I do. Cubby or car" I said

"Your asking me if you should put your mom into your cubby or your car" he smiled

"Is that really your moms ashes" a little boy asked

We looked at him

"It's weird isn't it" Derek smiled

He handed me the bag. We both got up

"Is there anything I can help you with" I asked

"I'm looking for Mark Sloan" he said

"Oh here come with me I know where he is" Derek said

The boy went with Derek and I went up to Richard's office. I knocked on the door

"Come in" he said

I opened the door and walked in.

"Hi Meredith" he said

"Chief" I said walking over to him

I took the zipped lock bag out of my pocket.

"I don't know what to do and I know you loved her. Can you do something with this" I asked

"Is that your mother" he said

"Yes. I don't know what to do with her and she's haunting me" I said

I left the bag onto his desk and left the room. He was probably traumatized but I didn't want them anymore. I went to my surgery and scrubbed in.

6 hours later

I was finished with my appendectomy with Bailey. I went to scrub out and Richard was there.

"Your mom really loved this place" he said

"This was her favorite OR" I said

He held the bag out

"We should let her live where she loves" he said

"We should" I said

He opened the bag and we poured her down the sink in OR 2. We got all of the ashes out and threw the baggie away. I scrubbed out and hugged Richard

"Thank you" I said

I pulled away and left the room. I went up to the intern locker room and changed into my clothes. I got a text from Derek.
