New beginnings

Chapter 2

I woke up the next morning with a major headache. I decided to pull through it and go to work. We were walking with Bailey and she was about to tell us where we were going

"Yang with Burke. Izzie with Torres. Grey with Shepherd. O'Malley and Karev you guys come with me" she said

I left and paged Derek. He came to the nurses station and grabbed his charts

"Hey how are you feeling" he asked

"Good now what are we doing" I asked

"We are working on Katie Bryce. She's been having seizures" he said as we walked to the patients room.

We walked in.

"Hi Katie this is Dr. Grey" he said

"Wow you're pretty" she smiled

"She really is isn't she" Derek smiled as he watched me

"Stop I'm embarrassed" I smiled

"Okay so we are trying to find everything on what may be causing the seizures. Your tests haven't came back yet so I'm just updating you and letting you know that it'll be in about 10 minutes" he said

"Okay" she said

2 hours later

We haven't found anything that was wrong with her. I've been trying to look through a bunch of her history and I found it. I freaking found it. I ran to Derek. He was at the nurses station.

"She had a fall during gymnastics. Her injury wasn't healed correctly-" I said out of breath and he finished

"Which is causing the seizures" he said looking at her chart

"Why isn't it written in here?" He asked

"I don't think that anyone knew" I said

"Nice work Dr. Grey" he said

We went into her room.

"Hi Katie I'm going to take you to surgery so that we can stop the seizures" I said

"You know what's wrong with me" she asked

"Actually Dr. Grey was the one who found out" he said

She looked at me waiting for an answer

"When you fell during gymnastics you didn't heal correctly which started causing the seizures" I said

She started seizing again

"Prep the OR" Derek said

The nurses ran out. We brought Katie to surgery and the nurses took her. We scrubbed in as the anesthesiologist was numbing Katie

"Are you ready" he smiled grabbing his scrub cap

"Ferry boats" I laughed

"I have a huge thing for ferry boats" he laughed

We walked into the OR once we were done. Derek went behind the patient and Callie went to her foot.

"It's a beautiful night to save lives" he smiled through his mask

He eyed me and the sparkle in his eyes were enough to make me faint. He started cutting into her. This was amazing.

6 hours later

It was nearly 12 o clock and Derek let me close up. I finished and we scrubbed out. I was so excited. I left and went to the nurses station. I grabbed Katie's chart and sat down on the floor. Cristina sat next to me.
