IMAGINE NURSING HELGA BACK TO HER HEALTH AFTER SHE BETRAYED YOU ALL AND FALLING IN LOVE WITH HER IN THE PROCESS.
You weren't planning it. She had betrayed you all, she had left with Rourke, only because she wanted to get rich. You knew she had that little sting of conscience tapping her on the shoulder, but she had still chosen to push it aside, to destroy a whole nation just because of money. But you had saved her from the erupting volcano and had decided to nurse her back to her health. You had ignored all the disapproving glances from the other crew members on your way back to the surface, staying beside Helga, changing her bandages every once in a while and just praying she would turn out all right.
You also didn't know that after weeks nursing her, sitting beside her bed and making her feel comfortable, when she touched your hand and asked "why you are helping me?" you didn't know what to answer. Why did you help her? She had betrayed you all. But still... you felt like you cared about her more than you should.
So as you grasped her hand back and looked into her eyes, you offered her a sad smile.
"Because I always knew you weren't a bad person."
Maybe you even loved her.
