Chapter 14 - Not The Whole Story

Mari's POV

I answered the phone not knowing what was going to happen. My parents are fun and kind but they are also super strict and overprotective.

(Phone conversation). (M=Mari, MO=mom)

M- hello?
Mo- WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU!
M- I'm on a bus with Skylar on our way to Atlanta, which is why....
Mo- YOU'RE RUNNING AWAY!!! *i will admit that I have always thought about running away but never did.
M- no I... *i was cut off by my mom screaming at me through the phone again. I knew she would be mad at what happened, but she didn't even know the whole story.
Mo- YOU WANNA RUN AWAY THEN BE MY GUEST BUT DONT DRAG OTHER PEOPLE ALONG WITH YOU!
M- no, mom you don......
Mo- I DONT WANNA HEAR IT, JUST CALL ME WHEN YOU REALIZE YOU HAVE MADE A BIG MISTAKE!

She hung up. I just broke down right there. She said to call her when I realized it was a mistake. No, I'm pretty sure she made the mistake, so why bother. I guess she technically kicked me out but she didn't really understand. Sky walked over and started to calm me down. I could feel the hot tears running down my cold face. I couldn't take this anymore. Nobody understood me. Nobody but Sky really understands.

I looked up and everyone turned away. They were reading Sky's lips. I guess she was trying to explain what was going on or something like that. Ashton walked over and told Skylar something. Before I knew it I was in Ashton's arms. He was very comforting. He picked me up and carried me upstairs. I guess I never really noticed that the bus was two stories but that explained where the boys kept going.

He pulled back a curtain to reveal an empty bunk. He laid me down and covered me up. I loved getting warm and cozy in beds. Especially beds that were clean and freshly made. I'm not really sure if it was freshly made, but I knew this one didn't belong to any of them. He closed the curtain and walked back down stairs. I just laid there and thought about what just happened. It's like my mother expected me to run away at some point. She accepted the fact too easily.

I knew my mom would soon tell Skylar's mom so it was only a matter of time before she called Sky. I hope sky calls her first though because that might make her mom a little easier to deal with. I couldn't think anymore, my head hurt too much. Soon I was fast asleep, and dreaming peacefully.
