Chapter 16 - Falling, Cuddles, and Daniel

Michael's POV

We went over a bumb in the road. Once we passed it though we heard a thud. We all just looked at each other. "What the hell was that?" Calum asked. I knew Calum was afraid of ghosts so it made me laugh a little. "I'll go check it out." I said. Truth is, I wasn't too scared, but what if Mari fell out of the bunk?

I walked up the steps to see a suitcase on the ground between all of the bunks. What a relief. Mari has been through enough pain already anyway. I walked over and picked it up. It was mine so I just shoved it in my bunk to deal with later. A heard movement and quickly turned around. Nobody was there. That's when I remembered Mari was right behind the curtain in front on me.

My curiosity got the best of me, so I I pulled the curtain back a bit. She was asleep with something in her hands. I looked over and saw that it was Daniel, my stuffed lion. Ash must have given it too her, because why would she voluntarily grab it. She looked so pretty like that. Her hair was partly over her face and the dye in her hair was a bright purple. I wanted to do that color but was never man enough too. It looked pretty on her though.

I closed the curtain and walked down stairs. It was about 1:40 and I was still hungry. I grabbed another slice and heated it up in the microwave. Haha, I feel like my super hero from the 'Don't Stop' music video. Once the pizza was done I walked over to a chair and sat down. My back hurt from sleeping sat up.

I looked over to see Cal and Ash in the back room playing FIFA. Ash hated FIFA and didn't really like playing so you can imagine the score. I turned my head to see Luke and Sky sitting the couch watching TV. The boys always hogged the back room which had the big TV in it so Luke and Sky were stuck in the lounge with the tiny one.

~~~1 hour later~~~

Luke and Sky ended up falling asleep on the couch. Sky had her head in the crook of Luke's neck; mostly because when they fell asleep Calum thought it would be funny to make them snuggle. They looked so cute together. I wish I had someone like that. Mari was cute but she seemed very secluded and you could tell that she had some problems, but hey, so do I. Plus I'm not really the kind of guy who grabs a girl when she is venerable like Mari is now with all of this going on. Yea it may be easier, but that doesn't make it right.

It was about 3:00 when I started to hear noises upstairs. I thought about how Mari looked when she slept. She looked so peaceful and innocent. Like a delicate snowflake that could melt at any moment. I heard a thud along with someone muttering "shit..." I got up and realized Mari must have woken up.

I walked upstairs and saw her getting up off the floor. She turned around and saw me there. I guess I didn't realize that I was starring. "Oh, uh...sorry was I too loud?" She said. I saw guilt in her eyes. "No, I just came to check on you..." Lie. I wanted to make sure she was ok and see her again. I think I was starting to grow fond of the girl I have only known for less than 24 hours.
