ALEXA

I hate my alarm, I groaned, slapping around randomly till it finally shut off.

“Riley, get up! Today’s the day,” I mumbled, stumbling across the room and flopping onto her bed.

Well, more specifically, her.

“5 more minutes Lexa,” she grumbled, and I wholeheartedly agreed, closing my eyes to savour those few minutes.

Big mistake.

“ALEXA WAKE THE HELL UP IT’S ALREADY NINE!”

I jerked straight out of bed. Oh shit, oh shit, oh holy motherfucking shit.

I rushed around the room, completely frazzled while Riley vigorously brushed her hair out.

Caleb, who had not-so-kindly scared the life out of me, was helping me pack my makeup, dress and the list of things to do. Already we were running a full hour behind schedule.

“Riley I hate you! This is all your fault!” I snapped as I tugged on my leggings and an oversized sweatshirt before pulling my hair into a messy bun.

“Hey! Not totally my fault you fell asleep too! Damn it, where’s my hoodie?” She yelled, flipping her comforter onto the floor.

“Babe, use mine instead,” Josh said, calmly tossing her his varsity jacket.

“Okay, let’s go,” I announced, kissing Caleb briefly for checking on me and helping me pack.

“Got you food too,” He grinned, holding up a Starbucks coffee and a cream cheese bagel.

“Love you Caleb, you’re the best,” I kissed his cheek before hightailing it out of my room, with everyone hot on my heels.

We probably broke every traffic rule and speed limit to make sure we weren’t too late. Bursting through the doors of the place I stopped to admire the transformation before turning to face my very amused committee.

“Hey, guys sorry I’m –“

“Late?” They finished for me, some giggling already.

“Yeah I –“

“Overslept?” Some were flat-out laughing by now.

“Ugh. You all suck,” I grumbled, but laughed along anyway.

My laughter slowly died when I saw Amber come up to me, her hands twisting nervously.

“Um… Lexa? I don’t want you to be mad and all but the décor didn’t sit right with me and I didn’t know who else to call and she said she’d make it up to you… so IkindacalledJessicaforhelp,” she rambled, her hands flying in various directions.

I stared blankly at her, wanting to ask her to slow down and repeat what she had said, but the question died on my lips when the person in question appeared.

“Hey, Amber I think I figured out what was wrong…” Her chirpy voice trailed off when she saw me staring at her in shock.

What was she doing here? Didn’t Amber learn her lesson the last time we got the populars’ help?

I could feel the anger bubbling within me and soon enough I was fuming.

“What the hell? Amber did I give you any instructions to get help from them?” I spat, glaring at Jessica, who was still holding the maroon coloured fabric in her hands.

Caleb turned to me in surprise, but I ignored it.

“Are you crazy? Of all people why her? You know damn well how much of a living hell they made my life, heck even yours! They threatened you and forced you to let them into the committee and now you’re giving her a free pass?” I yelled at Amber, who was glassy eyed and cowering in a corner.
