ALEXA
We were called into the hall for some super important announcement. Everyone knew what it was about but no one wanted to say anything. Once the entire incident thing blew over everyone was so nice to me it was actually freaky. Samantha actually liked this attention? Crazy woman. I slipped my hand into Caleb’s and he intertwined our fingers together as we made our way to the lecture hall, meeting Riley, Amber, and Josh along the way.
“They’re done. Finished. You’re safe baby girl, you’re safe,” he murmured, brushing his lips over mine briefly before we walked into the massive hall.
As I walked past, people were telling me to stay strong and not give in. It was creepy, seeing as not so long ago these people were dissing me and siding her. We sat up front. I chose the seats because I wanted Samantha to see that no matter what she did I always have people who love and care for me that will bring me back when I fall. The clique walked in, looking somber and scared, well most of them anyway. Samantha walked in, head held high and dressed to impress.
“Good afternoon students. Two weeks ago we had an incident where one of our students humiliated another to the point where she almost committed suicide,” Mr. Tyson started.
The hall was dead silent, and I could feel the focus shift to me, as if they could burn a hole into my back trying to see my reaction.
The principal glanced briefly at me before continuing. “These young women in front of you are the culprits. Samantha Sullivan, former class president, cheerleading captain, and ex – head of the events committee, amongst other achievements. She was behind the incident, along with her two friends, Jessica Hale and Kristy Hastings. I am extremely disappointed in these three young girls, for going to such extreme measures to fulfill a need to be wanted, desired, loved. As you principal, I apologize for not seeing this sooner. I know many of you have been victim to their misdeeds. As punishment I am taking away their leadership titles and suspending them for two weeks. However, in light of recent revelations, the board and I have decided that we are expelling Samantha Sullivan. She is no longer welcome at Sierra Academy. Right now as we speak the staff is packing up her things in the dorm in preparation for her leaving.”
I suddenly saw Samantha freeze, her face paling but before I could think any further, the doors to the hall burst open, and two cops appeared.
“Freeze! Samantha Sullivan, you are under arrest for illegal possession of marijuana and cocaine.” The police officers said, loud and clear while they made their way down the steps towards her.
Pin. Drop. Silence.
Cocaine? Marijuana? What the hell? I thought, staring at Samantha confusedly.
She tensed, then ran, toward me. I jumped up, shocked but I was too slow. With a crazed look in her eyes she drew a gun and pointed it at me, point blank.
“Let me go or she’s dead!” She screamed, laughing manically and grabbed me, her talon like nails digging in to my skin.
The police officers stopped in their tracks, obviously not expecting the dramatic turn of events.
“Calm down Samantha. We can talk this out. Let the girl go,” the female officer said, hands out as if trying to steady her.
I craned my neck to look for Caleb but couldn’t find him anywhere. A feeling of dread settled in the pit of my stomach. I knew he was going to try and help me but I had this weird gut feeling that he would get hurt.
“Why should I? I should just kill her!” Samantha shrieked and pressed the barrel of the gun hard against the side of my head.
The cold metal was a terrifying reminder of how close I actually was to death, but before I could process any more than that, a force hit Samantha and I, sending us both sprawling to the ground, the gun clattering away. I scrambled up as quickly as possible in an attempt to get away from Samantha but she grabbed my ankle and pulled, forcing me to land on my hand. A sharp pain went through it and I knew immediately it was broken, or at the very least fractured. She got on her feet quickly and ran for the gun but froze when she saw that someone else had picked it up.
