ALEXA

I was going to kill someone, soon. Not only had Caleb almost completely vanished from planning but Amber had been bullied into letting the Barbies join the decorating committee and they were already making a mess of things. The decorations were of the wrong colour and way overpriced and the flowers that arrived were meant for a flipping funeral for god’s sake! I knew the Barbies, Samantha especially, was trying to undermine my power by screwing everything up, starting with the décor. I mean I knew her sense of style and fashion would never let her order neon orange curtains for a Victorian event by accident. I wanted so badly to ask Caleb for help but he was training everyday after school from three to seven in lieu of the game tomorrow. I sunk onto the floor of the ballroom, putting my head in my hands and willing myself not to cry. The decorations couldn’t be returned, meaning I had to use more money from the budget given to re-order just about everything. Running my hands through my hair I looked up, only to stare at the hideously bright drapes, and hate myself for ever trusting anyone to help me.

Resignedly I got up from my position and started re-packaging the curtains little by little, wondering what the hell we could use with this much fabric. I was so engrossed in packing and mentally murdering the bimbos that I didn’t hear anyone enter the room, until he tapped me on the shoulder, and I jumped.

“You okay? Other than the hideous colour I'm not sure the fabric has done anything else to you,” Alexander said, jokingly, gesturing to the bunched up cloth in my fisted hands.

I sighed. “Yeah I’m fine. Trust me I did not choose this awful colour,” I muttered, shoving the material away.

“I know it’s started again,” he said, touching me on the shoulder gently.

I froze. How could he know? He doesn’t even attend Sierra anymore. I closed my eyes and willed myself with everything I had to not say anything, to not open my big fat mouth and cry to my ex boyfriend who cheated on me, but something in his voice just flew right past any defenses I was trying to build and I slumped in defeat.

“It’s just the beginning. This was to throw me off the planning of the actual thing and get shit from the Principal for spending more money than necessary. My committee is being bullied away from me and Caleb, along with Josh’s focus on Basketball isn’t helping. Amber is being bullied into giving up her power to the stupid bitches, your girlfriend, especially and the rest of my committee is too afraid of them to do anything. Fuck!” I cried angrily, tears burning in my eyes as my vision blurred.

“Get up, come on. We’re going to dinner. It’s already eight and you’re only going to end up feeling shittier about yourself if you stay here staring at those damn curtains. I’ll do what I can to get them replaced in any colour you request okay?” Alexander said, tugging my arm gently with one hand and wiping my tears with the other.

“Alex, I can’t. I’m supposed to meet Caleb here after he ends training,” I finished lamely, looking at the floor.

“He isn’t here. Training ends at –”

“Get your hands off her Quentin. She’s mine,” Caleb growled, fire blazing in his eyes as he stalked towards the both of us.

“Baby girl why are you crying? Did this asshole do anything to you?” He said, voice softening immediately as he looked me over.

“I’m fine. Alex didn’t do anything Caleb calm down,” I said, putting a gentle hand on his shoulder.

“Why didn’t you tell me they had started it again? Why tell him?” Caleb said, and instantly guilt washed over me.
