ALEXA POV
I could hear Caleb and Josh pacing in the living room impatiently, waiting for me to leave so my parents wouldn’t see him. We were supposed to go out for dinner as a family, seeing that it was a Friday and I got to go home, but they had some business to attend to so I decided that I’d go with Caleb to the celebratory party. A stab of disappointment went through me when I thought about my parents, who were both well off but never around, but I pushed the feeling away and focused on the party, and more importantly, my boyfriend.
He’s going to wear a hole in the carpet, I giggled to myself as I put the finishing touches to my makeup.
“Damn girl you look hot,” Riley whistled, using my vanity to touch up on her hair.
“But does it look too slutty? Is it too short? Is it too much? Maybe I should wear something longer,” I rambled nervously, tugging at the mint green chiffon of my dress.
“Lexa, Lexa, calm down. You look great. Caleb will not be able to take his eyes off you. Now come on, we gotta go. It‘s already 8 o’clock,” Riley said, shaking me by my shoulders lightly before she put on her heels.
Sighing, I grabbed my cream coloured clutch and slipped on my black heels. With one last glance towards the mirror, I left my room.
CALEB POV
I heard the familiar click of heels descending the stairs and knew that they were finally ready. Josh stood, waiting for his date. Riley came down first, dressed in a fiery red bondage dress that clung to her like a second skin, showing off her curves. Add that to the height her heels gave her, she looked really hot, but my eyes flitted quickly to my girlfriend, and I froze. Her hair was curled into large bouncy curls and she was wearing a cream coloured dress with a mint green skirt. She looked at me shyly, her cheeks flooding with colour. I walked over to her and kissed her.
“You look amazing. I have half a mind not to let you go to the party and lock ourselves up in your room,” I muttered into her ear, hoping that she’d relax.
It worked. She laughed and hit me, her entire body relaxing.
“Shut up Caleb, let’s go. If I’m gonna survive this party I’m going to need a drink,” she said, linking her arm with mine as we made our way to my car.
We heard the party before we saw it. The bass was booming throughout the entire neighbourhood, but considering most of the neighbourhood was away on business, it didn’t really matter.
“So, whose house is this?” Alexa asked me, her hand tightening around mine.
“Relax, it’s one of our basketball guys. He offered to throw the party so we agreed,” I explained, driving around to look for a parking lot.
“Who’s going to refuse trashing someone else’s house?” Josh piped up, earning himself a smack from Riley and laughs from all.
Once inside we were squished together. Everyone bombarded me with greetings as I tried to make my way through the crowd, saying, or yelling rather, hi and waving back. Alexa on the other hand, seemed to want to disappear.
“Babe, relax. It’s just a party. Nothing will happen to you, okay?” I reassured her, squeezing her arm gently.
Finally, we reached the kitchen. I opened the fridge and grabbed two beers, one for her and one for myself.
“Here,” I said, passing one to her.
She took it from me and took a large swig, while scanning the crowd nervously.
