ALEXA
I woke up in the morning in my own bed. Lifting my head I glanced around. Messy room, check. Dead asleep roommate, check. Boyfriend? No check.
Where was he? Did he really leave after the wonderful night we had?
I was kind of disgruntled, but I guessed he had stuff to do. Sighing I dragged myself out of bed and went to take a shower.
The phone rang just as I was getting out of the shower.
"Hello? Oh hi mom!" I answered happily, using one hand to grab a crop top and shorts.
"Hey sweetheart. Do you have time for dinner tonight? It is Sunday after all, and I know you and Caleb have been working so hard," she asked, and I knew I would go.
I loved my parents and Mom's cooking was the best. But I had to study for finals so I agreed to come round for dinner, but dinner only.
I looked at the stack of books I had to tackle and groaned, plopping myself onto the chair and cracking open my psychology text.

Four hours later, I finally shut my books, not being able to absorb any more information. Standing up, I winced at hearing my joints pop and stretched to get the kinks out of my shoulders. Picking up my phone I scrolled through texts and my Instagram feed before deciding to call Caleb.
"Hello?"
"Hey Caleb, um are you free tonight? My parents are having dinner and wanted me to invite you to come with," I asked, nervous, which was odd.
I was never nervous with Caleb.
"I'd love to baby but I've got basketball. Coach has been riding me hard since he found out about Duke," Caleb panted, and I suddenly realized he was still in training.
"Riding you hard? I thought only I could do that. Anyway it's fine. I'll just let them know you can't make it," I said casually, even though I felt an irrational stab of hurt go through me.
"Naughty girl. Love you Lexa," he said, and I heard coach in the background.
"Love you too Caleb," I replied, but he'd already hung up.
I frowned at myself. Riley was out with Josh, Caleb was at training, and I was all alone.
No matter, I decided. I would nap then head to my parents place. It was all going to be okay.
I hope.

CALEB
I lied to her about being at practice. I was actually at her house, planning her surprise birthday party.
"Josh, not there! She'll see it before she even enters the door!" Riley yelled and I couldn't help but laugh. It reminded me of Lexa and I when we were overseeing the décor in the ballroom.
My phone rang and I turned from the couple fighting to pick up my phone.
"Hello?"
"Hi Caleb. This is Coach Burns. I know you have finals in two weeks and that they last for a week so I was wondering if you'd like to come down to our campus in three weeks time? Let's say, Tuesday afternoon?"
"Yeah that sounds awesome. It would be good to visit the campus without the worry of finals over my head,"
Which reminded me, I needed to study.
