I'm not happy. Feels like a filler... Oh well. Enjoy! (I hope)

CALEB

I woke up to the sun shining vibrantly into my eyes through the window. Stretching languidly but carefully, I slipped out of bed, padding downstairs to get a cup of coffee for my girl.

“Good morning Caleb,” Alexa’s mom, Chelsea, greeted me, a wide grin plastered on her face.

“Morning,” I nodded back, rubbing the sleep away from my face.

We sat in comfortable silence, until a thought popped into my mind.

“Mrs. R, when is Alexa’s birthday?”

She turned towards me, looking very amused. “I’m guessing she never told you,” she sighed, the smile slipping the slightest bit. “It’s on the 26th of October,” she said, a haunted look settling itself in her eyes.

I wanted to ask what had happened on her birthday but the coffee machine pinged, signaling that Lexa’s coffee was ready.

“Baby girl, wake up,” I murmured, wafting the tempting scent of coffee under her nose.

She groaned, her hand blindly reaching out for the caffeine, slowly dragging herself out from slumber.

“Mmm… morning Caleb,” she muttered, a soft smile gracing her sleepy features.

“C’mon, let’s go, we have things to do, people to see,” I said, tugging her off her bed, only to have her land in a pile of pillows and blankets.

Half an hour later, while waiting for my girlfriend to finish cleaning up, I had decided that regardless of what happened on Alexa’s birthday I was going to celebrate it. Seeing as how it was only the end of August, I figured I had plenty of time to plan the perfect surprise for her.

“Okay, let’s go!” Alexa chirped, having finally finished getting ready.

I turned… and stared. Alexa was in hot pink boyfriend shorts and a cute sexy graphic crop top, showing off her long tanned legs and toned stomach.

“You look really hot Lexa,” I said, a full-blown smirk pasting itself onto my face as I ogled her.

“Baby, my eyes are up here,” she replied, her lilting laugh making me grin even wider.

We walked and chatted lightly about the progress of the planning of the ball, and about sending in the final proposal for approval as soon as possible. Before either of us had realized, we were already back in the Academy.

To avoid being in the sweltering Manhattan heat for too long, Alexa and I almost ran for the buildings, which were air-conditioned and not a boiling furnace.

“Hi everyone! Sorry we’re late. Got caught in traffic,” Alexa said, entering the classroom we had self-declared as our meeting room.

“Sure… got lost in the traffic,” Josh said, winking at me, causing Alexa to turn a very cute shade of pink.

“Shut up Ashford. Alright, I’m glad everyone could make it here today. We’re finalizing the theme and performers for the ball, followed by suggested music then we’ll move onto food. After that we’ll take a break, because these three are really big and time consuming,” I started, glancing at Alexa to continue.

“After the break, we’ll do venue and publicity. So, let’s start. Amber, you’re up,” Alexa said, grinning widely at the pink haired girl, who hopped up and launched into her ideas immediately.
