Sivaangi was deep into the hallways of the library. Her gaze was scanning across the book she had in her hand. She was on the floor, extremely unladylike but when she was engrossed into the world of books she simply wasn't aware of her surroundings.
Which is maybe why she didn't hear the heavy footsteps behind her. A chilly breeze passed by as he came up behind her and he said,
"Thought I'd find you here," he said. Sivaangi jerked at the sudden voice and turned around to face Ashwin. He tilted his head,
"I didn't mean to scare you."
Sivaangi eyed him warily and started walking away from him, not wanting to talk to him. Ashwin called out to her,
"'Neither duty, nor honour, nor gratitude, have any possible claim on me, in the present instance.'"
Sivaangi stopped in her tracks and turned around slowly. Her eyes flickered down to the book she was reading which now rested in his hands. He looked up and raised an eyebrow,
"Pride and prejudice?"
Sivaangi crossed her arms and huffed dismissively, "I didn't know you read."
He asked teasingly, "Why? Did you think I was blind?"
Sivaangi glared at him, "No I thought you didn't have-"
She stopped when she realised her words would be rude. Ashwin looked at her and nodded, "Go on. Finish your thought."
She cleared her throat, "That you didn't have time."
Ashwin chuckled and shook his head, "No, that's not what you were gonna say."
Sivaangi looked at him, "I was gonna say, you don't have the mental capacity to read."
Ashwin fake gasped and put a hand over his heart, "Ah, you wound me darling."
Sivaangi rolled her eyes and asked, "Why are you here?"
Ashwin hummed, "Well it would be extremely rude if I didn't talk to you when I saw you wouldn't it?"
She looked at him with disbelief, "So you're here to talk?"
Ashwin looked around the multiple books and said, "Isn't that what we're doing right now?"
Sivaangi looked at him intensely, wondering if there was any secret agenda behind his actions. Ashwin observed her silence and skipped over a book to reach her.
He said, "And it's a library, so to read as well."
Sivaangi watched him as he scanned the spine of the books on the shelf. Her head was going to burst if she didn't figure out what was going on. She took a deep breath and blurted out, "Why are you here?"
Ashwin looked at her confused, "I just told you, to talk and re-"
She shook her head and cut him off, "No, why are you here in Canticum?"
Ashwin observed her for a moment, processing her question. A knowing expression came upon his face. He shrugged,
"Well you know, the ball and we had some…" Ashwin trailed off wondering how to formulate a response that doesn't give away anything. Sivaangi raised an eyebrow expectantly,
