The Black Leaf (Part 1)

Chapter 12: Team Ro

As I walked down to the Hokage's office I notice a group of young man standing outside. They were joking about something, but as soon as I walked by them, they all got quiet and one of them whistled at me.

"Well, hello there, baby, are you lost?" The younger one said staring at me from head to toe.

I stopped and glared at them sending daggers with my eyes. The one wearing the happuri protector smacked the other on the head, "show some respect Hikku," he demanded.

"What the hell, Tenzo," the Hikku guy said rubbing his head.

"Please forgive our friend, he is kind of stupid," the guy with a needle on his mouth said smiling.

I looked at them unimpressed, "muzzle your dog, next time you take him out for a walk," I said with a smirk before walking away.

I heard the other two laughing at the Hikku guy, "she called you a dog!" one said.

"Come here puppy, puppy!" the other one continued.

I reached the Hokage office and there was a man kneeling in front of the Hokage. "You are late, Yami," Lord Third said as he got up from his desk.

The man looked over his shoulder and I met his gazed. Silver hair and a mask covering his face, his headband was covering his left eye. I knew exactly who this was... Kakashi Hatake.

"Well now that you are here, let's begin," Lord Third's words interrupted my thoughts and I move my gaze to him.

"Yes, sir, I apologized, I... got lost" I lied.

He smiled, of course he knew I was lying. He started by introducing Kakashi to me and I to Kakashi. He was the captain of the new team I was about to join. "Kakashi," Lord Third said, "Yami here is the new member of team Ro, she is a Black Leaf you see," Kakashi turned to look at me. "You and your team must do everything in your power to make sure she completes her missions and brings back the information she acquires."

"Yes sir," Kakashi said a respectful manner.

"Now bring back your team, there is something else I want to mention to all of you," the Hokage said and Kakashi immediately left to go get the rest of his team.

"Lord Third," I looked at him and took a deep breath to find my voice, "I would like to ask for your permission to be the boy's legal guardian?"

"But, you are still a child yourself," he said.

"A child doesn't do the things that I have done," I said in a bitter tone, making him look at me.

"I'm sorry, Yami, it's for your own safety. You can care for him and even get listed as an emergency contact, but I cannot give you his custody," he said looking at how upset this made me. "At least not on paper, please, by all means take of him and yourself."

The door open and the three idiots from earlier walked in the Hokage's office followed by Kakashi. They all turned pale when they saw me standing in front of the Hokage. They probably thought I came here to complain about them, I just smiled.

"Well then, I want to introduce Yami to you all, she is the new member of Team Ro," the Hokage said and the three men looked at me confused. He laughed when he saw their reaction, "do not underestimate her, she is a very qualified Kunoichi. She possesses great skills and she is a Black Leaf," all the men turned to me. "Now then, I want to warn you guys about something," the Hokage's tone changed to more serious. "There is no record of Yami's existence anywhere in the archives. Yami here, is a ghost and I intend to keep her that way." I felt like if I was punched on the gut, when he said I was a ghost. "You might witness some of her abilities during your missions, so whatever you see or hear is to stay between the six of us. If any information regarding her existence gets out there, her life could be in danger." He looked at me then back at the men, "and if that happens, I will make sure to have your heads, are we clear?" he warned the men giving them a nasty look.

"Yes, sir" all of them said in synchrony.

"A black leaf..." the Tenzo guy whispered with a surprised face.

"Very well, here is your mission for tomorrow," he said handing Kakashi a scroll. "Go over the details and get familiar with each other before tomorrow. Also, show her around, we don't want her getting lost again," the Hokage said before dismissing us.

We walked outside in silent, I could feel the stares behind my back as we walked. I stopped abruptly and turn around to the men staring. They all stopped almost bumping into me. Kakashi who was behind just scratched the back of his head, "well you know me," he said, "this is Genma, this is Hikku, and this is Tenzo," as he pointed to each of the men.

"Yeah, I met them already," I said and Tenzo and Genma stared at Hikku and giggled. Kakashi just looked at them confused, "So, what's the mission?" I asked.

Kakashi explained the mission and he also stated that he wanted us to be in the AMBU base at 5 am. He also offered to come and get me at my house and show me where the base was in the morning, but I refused. We all started walking home and after ten minutes, I looked back over my shoulder annoyed to see Tenzo and Kakashi still walking behind me.

"We are not following you," said Tenzo raising his hands defensively. "We live there," he pointing to the jonin building.

"Where do yo leave?" Kakashi asked, "maybe Tenzo or I could walk you there?" he offered.

"No need," I kept walking straight and headed to the cemetery. After spending one hour or so in the cemetery, I went back home. I got in the shower and got my stuff ready for the next day. I went to lay in bed and close my eyes. Suddenly, I started to hear some banging in the wall. Someone was screaming, but not in pain. The banging, moaning, and screaming were getting louder and louder. I wrapped my self in a small blanket since I was only wearing a shirt and underwear and walked out my room. I took a seat in a small chair on the balcony, leaned my head on the wall and tried to close my eyes.

Fucking great, I thought, this idiot next door doesn't have any consideration. I heard the sliding door of the apartment on the other side and it was Tenzo scratching the back of his head. He looked at me surprised and a little embarrassed. "The captain sure knows how to keep people awake, huh," he said as the moaning that came from the apartment between us got louder and louder.

We just sat outside not saying anything, staring at the stars. Once the moaning and screaming ended, I got up and slide the door open. I looked at Tenzo before I walked in, "see you tomorrow."

"Good night," he replied with sort of embarrassed smile on his face.
