Y/N's POV

"Come on, y/n!" A boy's voice calls. "I'll race you!"

"Hey, wait up!" I laugh, chasing the boy.

Following him through the halls, the two of us struggle to contain our laughter. However, that laughter quickly dies down as we encounter a locked door. I start backing away but the boy moves closer to it.

"Thomas," I whisper. "We shouldn't be here. It's probably locked for a reason." I keep backing away.

"Don't worry, y/n. They need us. They won't hurt us. It'll be okay." He promises.

"Well, have fun. I'm not staying. See you in the cafeteria."

"Oh, come on sis-"

"Bye Thomas." I say, walking away.

I wake up to someone calling us for dinner. Slowly sitting up, the hammock sways beneath me, sending me sprawling to the ground. Standing up, I groan and rub my head, making my way to the Kitchens. The boys are lining up (probably for food) so I take my place in line. The boy in front of me turns around and smiles. His face is covered in acne.

"Hey, Greenie! How are you enjoying yourself?" he asks.

"Y/n." I reply.

"Huh?" He raises an eyebrow.

"My name isn't Greenie, it's y/n." I explain, laughing slightly. "And I'm settling in nicely, thanks."

"O-oh. Nice to meet y/n, I'm Winston."

"Nice to meet you." A wide smile forms on my face.

"Nice to meet you y/n! I'm Clint." Another face pops out from behind Winston. A pile of blond curls sit on top of his head.

"Nice to meet you!" A cold hand finds its way on my arm and I jump, whipping my head around, only to see Alby standing there. I shrug my arm out from his grasp, raising an eyebrow at him.

"Sorry." he chuckles. "I just wanted to see how you were settling in." Rolling my eyes, I reply.

"I'm settling in fine." He nods and walks away. As he walks away, I turn back around and catch the eyes of a boy with strange eyebrows. He sits alone at a table, wearing an expression that looks like a scowl. Sending him a small wave, I smile at him. His eyebrows raise and the scowl immediately changes into a look of...surprise? I continue to make my wat up the line until finally, I reach the front. The boy there smiles.

"Hey Greenie, I hope you like stew.." He scoops a spoonful into a bowl and I take it graciously.

"Thank you...?"

"Frypan." he supplies.

"Thank you Frypan." I smile, walking away before quickly turning around. "Oh, and it's y/n, not Greenie." I call.

Chatter all around stops and I turn around, only to see every single boy staring at me. Nervously chuckling, I see Minho and Newt making their way towards me, smiling widely.

"Hey, y/n! That's awesome you remember your name!" Newt exclaims as people clap all around us. I blush profusely.

"Stop clapping, it's not that big a deal." I say, cheeks heating up even more. I can't stop smiling as I inch further into my clothing. I turn my attention back to Newt. "Wait. What do you mean, already?"

"Most of us don't remember until the bonfire or even days after arriving." Minho pipes in.

"Oh..."

"But that just makes you even more awesome!" Newt explains enthusiastically.

"Alright, let's go eat." Minho says, pulling me by the arm to the table they were sitting at before. "I'm starving."

After eating the delicious stew Frypan had made, I find myself in the middle of the Glade between Newt and Minho. Alby hands the both of them a torch and Newt hands me his with a wink.

"I've done this so many times. I think you'd like doing it." He explains when I try to hand it back to him, stating that Alby had given it to him. Finally, I accept it, just as Alby yells for us to 'light it up'. I see the other Gladers throw their torches into the pile of wood in front of them so I do the same. Throwing it as hard as I can, he torch soars through the air, landing in the middle of the pile. Flames roar up in front of me, sending a wave of heat. Laughing, I turn to Minho, only to see he had disappeared. I look at Newt and see a smile on his face too.

Newt and I join the others in dancing and celebrating. I meet some new boys including, Zart, the Keeper of the track-hoes, Ben and Adam, two of the Builders in the Glade, and the other Medjack, Jeff.

I keep dancing, moving from person to person, before finding myself in front of the strange boy from earlier. He smiles down at me, his weird eyebrows raising. As I stand there, he presses a drink in my hand.

"I'm Gally, Keeper of the Builders." He introduces.

"Hi Gally!" I say, bouncing on my toes slightly, slowly raising the drink to my lips. I immediately spit it out all over Gally. "What is that?" I laugh. He wipes his face and chuckles.

"It's a secret." Laughing even more, I take another sip and swallow the bitter drink. Gally hands me another cup and I take it giddily. We sit down against a log, laughing as we down more of the mysterious drink.

A few drinks later, Alby and Jeff come over and Gally gives them each a few to pass out among the other Gladers.

"So, Greenie, has anyone caught your attention yet?" Gally asks. "Because you sure have caught many of these shanks' attentions." I laugh heartily.

"My attention? No, I don't need nobody!" I boast. My words slur together, making me laugh even more. Newt comes up to us, face beet red, a large smile plastered on his face.

"Hey shanks." He looks directly at Gally. "You ready?" Gally nods, standing up. Struggling to stand up, I pull myself off the ground, stumbling into Newt. He catches me easily.

"Come on, you'll want to watch this." With the help of Newt, we walk over to a makeshift circle, formed by the other Gladers. Gally stands in the middle. I take another sip of the drink in my hand. A pair of hands wrap around the cup and gently pull it from me. I try to grab it back, a soft whine escaping my lips.

"Trust me, you'll thank me for this tomorrow." A voice says. Looking up, I see Minho holding my cup and I cross my arms, swaying slightly on the spot. He offers me another cup and I take it, downing the contents of it in seconds. It tastes like water.

"Alright, you all know how this works." Gally speaks up. "Who's first?
