Y/N's POV
I scream the entire way, the sensation that my stomach is dropping making me feel nauseous. I land with a soft thud onto another boy and he lets out a yelp of pain.
"Sorry." I apologize, holding back a soft whimper. Carefully, I move off the boy and out of the way, just as Newt drops from the tube. I sit up against the wall, leg sticking out, feeling the warmth of my blood flowing on my back. Newt comes over.
"You okay?" I nod, wincing. He slowly helps me to my feet and we look around. There are dead bodies of scientists everywhere. I look at the surviving Gladers, trying to see who survived. Twenty, including myself. Twenty out of the original fifty who left. I have to hold back tears, telling myself now isn't the time to cry. I slowly let go of Newt and hop over to one of the tables, Newt moving to another. I run my finger over it, camera feeds popping up.
"This is crazy." I mumble. Nobody hears. I turn around, looking around at the other holograms, suddenly feeling extremely weak. I stumble, falling to the floor. Pulling myself against a counter, I slump against it, rolling up my pant leg. Part of my bone is sticking out. Newt rushes over to me and I look up at him. "Something's wrong, Newt." I whisper. "My leg is broken and I think my stitches ripped." He pulls me toward him to take a look and I lean into him, eyes halfway closed.
"Hey. Hey, y/n, stay with me. Okay?" Everything sounds far away but I can pick up what he is saying. "Are you still with me?" I nod slightly. "Okay, good." He sets his bag on the floor, digging throuh the medical supplies. He pulls out a roll of bandages and a sewing kit. "I'm not the best at stitching up but I do know that this will hurt, okay?"
"M'kay." He lays me on my stomach and an excruciating pain courses through my back, causing my breathing to hitch then quicken. I feel a calloused hand on mine. Probably Minho. A few moments later, the pain subsides and my breathing returns to normal. Newt sits me up and wraps bandages around my stomach. I slump against the desk again, Newt towering above me. On my right, I see Minho, eyes full of worry. I squeeze his hand to let him know I'm alright as Newt tells me to brace for the next bit of pain. He moves my leg, probably to set it back in place and I scream, pain coursing through my leg for a few seconds before everything goes dark.
I wake up to a video playing somewhere in the room. I catch bits of it but not a lot. One thing that stands out clear to me is a gunshot. I jump. I look down at my leg, feeling less pain than before and see that a spear is being used as a stint and bandages are wrapped around it. I move slightly and Newt is at my side in seconds, pulling me to my feet gently. Using him as a support, we walk over to the rest of the Gladers.
"Is everyone okay?" I ask, panicking slightly, thinking something happened, due to the gunshot noise.
"Everybody is fine, you are the one hurt the worst." Minho replies.
"We can't leave." I hear a voice say. I look up to see Gally, gun in hand, pointing at Thomas.
"Yes, we can, Gally. We're free. We can go." Thomas argues.
"No, we can't. Don't you see? We belong to the Maze." The next few moments are a blur and I can't remember all of it. I remember hearing a gunshot, looking around, checking to make sure everybody is alright. Gally has a spear in his chest, put there by Minho. Chuck falls, whispering a soft,
"Thomas." Thomas catches him.
"Chuck! Come on, stay with me." Chuck gives Thomas something but all I can think is that sweet, innocent, little Chuck is dying. A stray tear slips from my eye, followed by another, then another, and another. Newt covers his mouth with his hand to stifle a sob and I turn my head into his chest, letting the tears fall freely. Another one of my best friends, gone. Though my ears are ringing, sounds and commotion cause me to turn my head from Newt's chest. Rays of sunlight fill the room and masked men and women rush in, dragging us out. Our "rescuers", usher us out of the room quickly to a bus outside the door. They start to drag me, making me whimper in pain when Minho stops them.
"She's hurt! Stop dragging her!" He yells.
"Well, make her walk faster or we leave her behind." One of our "rescuers" calls back. Minho comes up to me, placing my arm around his shoulder and Newt does the same on the other side. They half-carry, half help me walk to the bus. We get there quickly and settle into a seat, Newt sitting with me in the seat on the window side and Minho sitting in the seat across from us. The bus starts pulling us away once everybody is onboard, taking us to our new lives.
