Chapter Thirty-Six...

After my shower and fixing my hair, trying the whole time to try and forget what it had felt like having Jord’s hands on me, even if it was just my hips, I ventured back into the other room.

Jord was munching on cereal at the table wearing a defiant expression, whilst Matt was giving him a pointed look. I got the feeling this wasn’t a conversation I wanted to interrupt and so I coughed gently and hopefully not too fakely before entering the kitchen.

They both turned to look at me and smiled sweetly. That was never a good look and I instantly got the feeling they had been talking about me. I tried to hide it though and smiled back just the same.

“Matt’s going to give you a lift to school today, because it will look suspicious if no one is seen giving you a lift.” Jord informed me, his reasoning making sense. If the police were going to start asking random people then it would be a good idea if we had an alibi. “I’m going now because I still have to be in earlier than students.”

He grabbed his things which were placed on the side of the table next to him and headed for the door. “I’ll see you both later.” He called as he headed down the corridor.

I didn’t think that that had been particularly awkward, but maybe that was just my opinion. Jord had seemed in a pretty big rush to get out of here. I guess something like this morning couldn’t just happen and then be forgotten about. Not that I really wanted to forget it.

“So, you two looked comfy this morning.” Matt goaded. “Jord claims it was nothing, but I’m thinking otherwise.”

I had to admit that it stung when Matt told me what Jord said, but should I have been surprised? Had it really been anything? Sure, I had been on top of him wearing practically no clothing, but that didn’t make any difference. Jord had been half asleep and I hadn’t even meant to do it. The ‘I was trying to resist temptation’ was ingrained into my head, but that probably meant nothing either. Who knew what he would have said while he was still only half conscious. He probably mistook me for someone else.

Matt raised an eyebrow, apparently still waiting for an answer. I snapped myself out of my musing and tried to look nonchalant. “It really was nothing. I was only trying to turn the alarm off, it just went...wrong.” I explained honestly. That was all that had happened, it just meant more to me than nothing.

“I don’t believe either of you.” He stated confidently.

I couldn’t even be bothered to argue with him. “What time is it anyway? I don’t want to be late for school, but Jord always goes ridiculously early. I could never be a teacher.” I think I might have rambled a bit, but I was eager for a subject change.

Matt chuckled, apparently noticing my change of conversation topic and told me we would set off in about half an hour.

I gobbled down my breakfast and had to put up with my wavy hair again. At least I had remembered my eyeliner and mascara, they were essentials.

When I did arrive at school, Grace was waiting for me. She looked happy when I got out of Matt’s car. “You made up with your parents then?” She asked hopefully.

I shook my head. Matt still hadn’t driven off yet and when I turned around to see what he was doing, he cut the engine off and got out.

“Why aren’t you going?” I demanded, hoping he wasn’t here to embarrass me anymore, or going to see Jord when there were so many people everywhere.

“I’m waiting until the conversation gets to where it’s going and I can pull my one-liner.” He informed me smugly.

“You can leave right now then.” I suggested, when he didn’t move a muscle I glared at him. “Or we could just go the girl’s toilets and talk. Then at least you wouldn’t be able to follow me.”
