Chapter Seven…
My mum was curled up on the sofa, sobbing and blubbering when I went back inside the house. She muttering incoherent things hysterically and I just about picked out the words ‘hate’, ‘bad mother’ and ‘stupid woman’.
I sat down beside her and wrapped an arm around her should comfortingly. “It’s okay mum.” I told her softly. I didn’t want to think I hated her when I shouted at her yesterday, I had just wanted her to see how much she had been neglecting me.
“I’m so sorry sweetie.” She cried. “I didn’t mean to be such a bad mother.”
“Your not a bad mother.” I cooed. “You’re a great mother and I love you. I had just had a bad day that’s all. There’s nothing wrong with you mum.” I reassured her.
I stood up opposite her and held out my hands. “Come on, I think you need to go to bed.” I told her.
She nodded and followed me up the stairs. It was like looking after a child. At least I knew if I ever had kids I would have some experience. After I actually put her to bed, I went back downstairs and the grabbed the ice cream I so desperately needed.
Sitting in front of the TV and putting on a film I probably wouldn’t be paying attention to, I grabbed my phone from my school bag. I had quite a few missed calls and messages, even a voice mail. They were mostly from Mel, asking where I was because she was going to leave without me if I didn’t come soon.
I was surprised that I didn’t even have a text from Zack. He really didn’t care at all. In fact, he was probably at home fucking Leonie right now. When I got to the voice mail, I was shocked to see it was from the whore herself.
I clicked on listen and waited for her voice to begin speaking. “Hey babe,” She began, mimicking Zack, “I’m glad you could finally see what we’ve been doing. I think it serves you right for being such a prude. I’m sure you’ll agree me and Zack are much better suited than you and he ever were.” I could practically see her smirk through the phone and it pissed me off to no end. Not only had she had the nerve to get with my boyfriend, but then she had to leave me a voice mail, rubbing it in. It’s like adding salt to my wounds.
I groaned and turned my phone off. Not bothering to reply to anyone’s attempts at contacting me. Sliding back down on the sofa and opening the ice cream I began shovelling it down. Not so fast that I got brain freeze, but fast enough that I would have emptied the freezer by the end of the night.
I knock on the door interrupted my wallowing and I brought my ice cream to the door with me when I went to open it. I was slightly surprised to see Mel on the other side. She eyed me and my ice cream and guided me back to the sofa. “What happened?” She demanded, putting on that voice best friends have when they want to know something.
I shrugged, somehow not as willing to open up to Mel as I was to Mr. Armstrong. “I broke up with Zack.” I said, vaguely.
She gasped and looked at me, in complete shock. “What!? When did this happen? Why? Was it because of when he pressured you? You were so good together!” She rambled. I let her go for it, because I didn’t want to start explaining.
