Immemorial

His eyes slowly opened when he heard footsteps approaching.

It was a very slow movement, gradually coming conscious. His body felt heavy, and all he wanted to do was just go back to sleep.

Nevertheless, he sat up anyways.

Dream could hear the footsteps get closer, watching as the door to this cell opened with ease.

Unlike the door in his cell in the main part of the facility, this cell door opened quickly, and didn't have the awful sound of metal clacking accompanying it open.

Dr. Niki stepped into the cell, locking eye contact with Dream for a few seconds, before immediately breaking it.

Once Dr. Niki stepped into his new cell, silent. Someone else stepped in behind her.

Tommy.

Tension filled the air, and didn't seem to want to go away.

Dr. Niki silently pulled out a wristband, and clamped it down onto Dream's wrist.

Dream looked at it, perplexed.

"It's a tracker" Dr. Niki explained, "Dr. Quackity thinks you should be allowed to explore for a bit. And of course, precautions have to be taken"

She paused for a second.

"Tommy is going to supervise, while you explore for a bit" Dr. Niki said.

Dr. Niki stepped out of the room, her gaze lingering on Dream for a few more seconds, before she completely left.

Now that Dr. Niki had left, it was just Tommy and Dream in the room.

An awful silence commenced, even when Dream had stood up and walked out of the cell, Tommy following close behind.

Neither wanted to speak, but the silence was going to have to be broken anyways.

"Listen, Dream. I'm sorry about being a 'spy', I really didn't want to, but I didn't have any other choice-" Tommy tried explaining.

Dream didn't respond, having nothing to say.

As the two walked through the hallways, he noticed most of the doors to the sides of it were locked, and required keycard access.

He could hear distant screaming as he passed by another door, probably someone getting tortured.

Dream's eyes wandered back to looking at his own hands, if he focused hard enough, he swore that sometimes it was like he could see flashes of blood, hallucinations, he supposed.

It was obvious he was reminded of Karl's death, greatly.

"Your not the only one having a hard time, Dream" Tommy commented, noticing.

"What?" Dream was surprised, not just that Tommy finally spoke again, but because of what he said.

"I meant it! Ever since Tubbo and me got exposed as spies, me and him are arguing even more, and everything is going downhill. We never really saw eye to eye in the first place, but everything has got so much worse" Tommy ranted.

"You're acting like it's some sort of twisted competition of who's troubles are greater" Dream narrowed his eyes, and, Tommy could in fact see that, since Dream didn't have his mask anymore.

"You caused most of your own problems anyways" Tommy harshly muttered.

Don't remind me.

"But you couldn't just sort that out yourself. You had to drag everyone down with you, didn't you?" Tommy burst out in anger.

"Sapnap was the one who told everyone that you and Tubbo were spies, not me!" Dream argued.
