"Woah" Dream was breathless because of the sheer size of the library.
"Amazing, isn't it?" George stood beside him.
Dream looked over at George, he'd never noticed the tacky sunglasses George was wearing. It didn't seem very useful since Dream had yet to even see the sun.
"Ooo! Let me show you my favorite book!" It sounded like an idea had sprang up in George's mind because before he knew it, Dream was being dragged along by George.
George excitedly scanned every aisle with books in it, until he stopped in front of one and dragged Dream into the aisle.
George grabbed one of the books on the shelf, the book was simply titled, 'Skies'. That's a really short name. Dream thought to himself as George opened the book and showed it to Dream.
The book itself had a leather binder and nothing on the front cover other than the title. Inside the book however was beautiful drawings of sunsets, sunrises, constellations. It had zero words but there really was no need for any.
Dream found himself getting invested in peering at all the drawings with George.
"George! That book is only fit for babies to read it. It's basically a kiddie picture book" Sapnap teased George, appearing around the corner and strutting into the book aisle they were in.
"No it's not!" George slammed the book closed, causing Dream to jump back in surprise.
"Yes it is" Sapnap responded.
"No it's not" George rushed to shove the book back into it's spot in the shelf.
"Whatever" Sapnap sarcastically spoke.
"We should go see what Badboyhalo is looking at" George said as he walked out the aisle, successfully shifting the conversation to something else.
Eventually the group found Badboyhalo again.
"What book are you looking for?" Dream asked.
"I'm trying to see if they have any cooking books" Badboyhalo responded, not bothering to look at Dream.
"Why cooking books of all things? It sounds useless since you'd have no cooking supplies" Dream questioned.
"I'm just curious about how you would make muffins. I heard about them once" Badboyhalo plucked a book out of the bookshelf.
"Oh!" Dream was a bit surprised that the reason was that simple.
Dream started to walk away to go find his own books, leaving George and Sapnap with Badboyhalo. But before he knew it, Sapnap caught up to him and started walking beside him.
"So, what genre of books are you interested in? Crime? Mystery? Crime mystery?" Sapnap asked.
"I like the fantasy genre" Dream replied.
"Anyways though, how did all these books get here?" Dream continued to talk as him and Sapnap walked through the aisles.
"I have no clue. Though the reason we even have a library in the first place is to apparently 'train our intelligence', which sounds like a bogus reason. Like what does my intelligence even need training for? Its already perfect" Sapnap complained, adding a hint of sarcasm at the end.
"Yeah" Dream agreed, slinking into one of the random aisles.
Sapnap followed him into there, the two stood at the bookshelves, scanning the books.
Dream yanked a random book out the shelf to see if it had anything interesting in it. The book was completely blank. The title, the cover, and the pages had nothing on them. Something definitely felt off about the book.
Dream flipped through the pages but all of them continued to be blank. Just as he was about to put it back, he could feel something stir in his gut. Like a feeling that he should keep this book.
Dream twitched, intensely staring at the book. It had a sad aura to it. A somewhat depressing aura to put it lightly. Dream glanced over at Sapnap who was busy looking through books.
He knew that the library sign at the front had said to not keep books in the library and to not borrow any or bring anything out with you. But Dream just had this feeling that if he didn't take this book with him now, he wouldn't find it again. Maybe I could show this to Skeppy when he appears again. He'd probably know at least a little bit about it. Dream thought as he held the book in his hands.
He felt the book again, it was actually quite small compared to the other books in the library. Where am I gonna hide this? Dream looked around.
When Dream finally glanced at the book again, it had gotten a lot smaller, about the size of a average keychain now. The book also happened to suddenly now have a necklace string attached to it, basically the perfect way to sneak it out would be to wear it as a necklace and tuck it into his sweatshirt.
It was almost like the solution was handed to him. As if the book wanted to leave the library. And that only made it more creepy.
Should I really take this book with me? No normal book can grow smaller in a split second. Typically creepy books bring no good. Unfortunately for Dream though, he was convinced to take it with him by sheer curiosity.
Dream placed the necklace with the book attached to it onto his neck, effectively hiding the book since it was so small now.
"Its time for labor, please go to the office to be assigned your work for today" A announcement rung throughout the library.
Dream and Sapnap hurried and left the aisle, meeting Badboyhalo and George in the front of the library.
"Did you enjoy the library?" Badboyhalo asked Dream, he sounded very cheerful.
"I did!" Dream spoke as they made their way to the door.
"So where is this office we got to go to?" Dream asked.
"I'll obviously lead the way!" Badboyhalo exited the library with George right behind him. Next Sapnap and Dream followed suit, stepping outside too.
Dream could feel a shiver run down his spine as soon as he stepped out and goosebumps crept up his skin. The comforting aura of being around friends was gone and replaced with a slow sort of dread.
Will I regret taking this book with me? Maybe. Dream asked himself as he snuck another glance at it, the book still rested hidden under his hospital gown. For now I think I'll just leave it alone. Dream caught up with the rest of the group.
