Sidebloggable Prompt: "Going on a First Date"

Tumblr Prompt: https://otpprompts.tumblr.com/post/160719102076/imagine-your-otp-just-got-together-and-are-going/amp

"Imagine your OTP just got together and are going on their first date. They're getting ready to head out, and Person A is really giddy and excited about finally being in a romantic relationship with Person B after having had feelings for them for a long time. They're bouncing all over the place, talking about how much fun the two of them are gonna have together."

Sora sat down on the bus from her school, opening her text messages with a smile. Throughout the afternoon, she had been receiving cute and excited texts nonstop from her boyfriend Nikei, who she had recently gotten together with.

Nikei didn't attend school too often due to his job, so Sora had to often bring his schoolwork to him and tutor him the subjects herself. This wasn't really necessary, as Hope's Peak Academy allowed its students to attend without learning, but Nikei seemed to not want to miss anything regardless.

After a few times of hanging out together, Nikei had swallowed his pride and asked her to fill him in on the lessons he missed. Sora was sure that it was just an excuse to see her often though, and their banter started getting less than platonic. And before she knew it, they had begun dating.

Today, Nikei had promised to take her out for dinner, and he had been texting her throughout the afternoon. She thought his enthusiasm was adorable, and kept texting him to see his energetic replies. It was rare that the journalist was excited and chipper, so she was pleasantly surprised by his change in demeanour.

The bus finally arrived at her stop, and Sora got off it to go home. 'Home' was a rental house she shared with Nikei, where he agreed to split the rent so he wouldn't have to work in a cramped Hope's Peak dorm room. He said through his texts that he would pick her up at their house, but he didn't say when that would be.

Sora closed the door behind her, but as she was taking off her shoes, the door opened again. Nikei nearly jumped when he saw Sora already inside and near the front door. "Ah-! When did you get home?!"

"Just now," Sora replied, reversing her actions and putting her shoes back on. "I thought you wouldn't get back for at least half an hour."

"Nope! I left work early this time," the journalist happily declared. "Anyway, come on! I booked a good spot, we should get there already!"

"My, you're quite chipper. I know you've had a crush for a while, but seeing you this hyped up for a first date... It's quite adorable, you know," she remarked with a calm smile.

Nikei's face went a little red as he backed up towards the door. "Was it that obvious...? Oh well, we should hurry! The place we're going to has really good food, you need to try it at least once!" he exclaimed.

Spurred on by her boyfriend's excited rambling, Sora chuckled to himself and followed him to his car. Seeing him so giddy was both cute and funny, she couldn't deny that, so she was curious about where he was planning on taking her.

A few minutes later, the car finally parked in a lot outside a small restaurant, one that Sora hadn't seen many people go to. She hadn't been there either, she considered that restaurant one of the buildings that blended into the backdrop. But based on what Nikei told her, the food here might be good.

She entered the restaurant with Nikei and was led to a table with him, where she began to check out the menu. "Wow, the stuff here is pretty cheap. It looks good though, I think I might have the chicken parmesan," she decided. "Oh, they have americano-flavoured ice cream. That looks neat."

"I'll get the alfredo-shrimp pasta. Should I flag down our waitress?" Nikei suggested, and he did so when he was given the okay. As he gave their order to their waitress, Sora noticed that he seemed a bit calmer than normal. She didn't know if it was because he wasn't overworking himself or if he was just too distracted to care about how he acted.

"Hey, Nikei," Sora spoke up as soon as the waitress left. "How did you find this place anyway? It's pretty nice here, but this place doesn't stick out much."

"Well, when I was out collecting interviews on that recent political scandal, I just dropped in here for lunch since it was close to home. I thought the food was going to be bad at first because it was cheap, but it really wasn't at all," he recalled. "I haven't tried their pasta yet, but I can guarantee that their chicken is really good!"

"I'll look forward to that then," she replied. It took a few minutes, but their food soon arrived at their table.

When Sora tried a bit of the chicken, she was surprised to find that her boyfriend was completely right, the chicken parmesan was delicious. She didn't say a word while she was busy eating, and Nikei was busy with his pasta too.

When both of them had finished, they moved on to their drinks. "You were right. It was really good," Sora smiled, tilting her glass a bit to see the ice moving around. "Thank you for bringing me here."

Nikei seemed to light up when he heard those words, she believed that he would've started moving around excitedly if he wasn't in public. she made a note to tease him about that later. "That's great, but we haven't finished eating here yet," the journalist laughed. "You said something about dessert, right? I think americano ice cream would be pretty tasty too!"

Sora giggled at his happiness, and she looked away from the table to search for their waitress and flag her down again.
