So... This is how it'll end.
Kokoro had woken up in the refrigerator, unable to move at all. She last remembered accidentally awakening a monstrous emotion in Emma while trying to recruit her away from Void, her head was still throbbing from the blow that knocked her out.
The irony of the ice in here not helping my bruise is not lost on me.
Even though it was incredibly dark in the fridge, she could tell that she was in her underwear. In addition, her hands were bound and her mouth was gagged. The fridge was small enough that she couldn't kick at the door, and the cold was sapping her strength anyway.
I can't yell anyway. The refrigerator would muffle my voice, and I shouldn't waste oxygen anyway.
...Not that it matters. I'm going to die here anyway. I can't even achieve my dream.
Kokoro remembered when she had first met Emma. She hadn't been looking for the Voids at the time, not knowing that they existed, so the actress's bright and friendly demeanour seemed innocent.
Emma and Kokoro talked a few times and ran into each other a few times during investigating the island, and the blonde's discussions ranged from discussing psychology's relationship with acting to puns about stupid things.
"How much do polar bears weigh? Enough to break the ice! Hehehe. Ah, that joke didn't get much of a reaction from Sora either..."
When Setsuka gathered a group of people to throw a party after their fifth day of being on the island, Kokoro was forced to come along too. Emma tried to make her sample every bit of the gourmet food Mikado had cooked, saying that Kokoro should try something other than fast food while working.
"Here, Kokoro! Say ahh!"
"Don't treat me like a child."
Kokoro left in the middle of the party, but she kicked herself for not staying. If she had stayed, maybe she could have figured out Hajime's murderous intentions and stopped him from killing Yuri. But the spaceman had died the next morning, and a class trial was held to solve his murder.
I should have been more aware back then. I should have looked for any potential murderers in our group.
Hajime was revealed to be in a group of four that blended into the group and worked with Mikado. But he was betrayed by the wizard and executed, leaving three members of Void left hiding in the group. But from the amount of shock and horror in the courtroom, it was clear that they hadn't expected this either.
Kokoro had immediately distanced herself from the group after the trial, no matter how much they had asked. She wasn't stupid, she had shown her intelligence in the trial while not knowing about Void. This made her a prime target for being attacked next.
But even when she was trying to stay away and try to find the Voids from a distance, Emma was determined to stay by her side and be her friend. Kokoro was able to discover that she was a Void in this way, her mind was pure and full of nothing except innocence. Everyone had a dark side for Kokoro to see, but for the Ultimate Actress to seem like this, something was suspicious.
When she talked to Emma at the concert, she knew she made a fatal mistake in bringing up Emma's past. As her emotions became monstrous, Kokoro turned around to call for help, and that was the last thing she remembered before waking up in the fridge.
All that effort wasted... But there's still something I can do.
With what remaining strength she had in her numb hands, Kokoro began breaking off eight icicles behind her and carving into them with her fingers. She didn't know if the majority of the others would be able to understand her message, but she knew that people like Kanade and Syobai might be able to.
If that's the case, then I'll leave everything up to you. If I can help you one more time...
Kokoro was drowsy and close to unconsciousness already. She knew that her time was almost up, she was going to freeze in here. She couldn't precisely identify the emotion in her; was it fear, denial, or betrayal she felt?
The Voids are meant to...lose the class trials... So I'll be...seeing you...soon...Emma...

Kokoro had been waiting in a blank space for what seemed like ages. She remembered everything now, and for a moment, was in shock at the events that came to pass. Yuri was already there, and many others later came to join them.
Kokoro understood then, this must be the unscientific thing called the 'afterlife'. She had never believed in one, but now that she was here, she had no choice now but to admit that it was real. But even with people joining her, the members of Void hadn't come yet.
After a long time, three people appeared in the distance. As the figures approached the group, Kokoro recognized Emma at the front. As soon as their eyes met, Emma burst into tears and ran towards Kokoro.
The actress hugged her, sobbing into the smaller woman's shoulder. "I-I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." Emma sobbed out, letting her true feelings show now that she was dead too.
"Hm...it's okay. It's in the past anyway, there's nothing that can be done anymore," Kokoro replied, but she continued to let Emma hold her. "I don't know why you three came so late, but I guess that must have been an advantage of being a Void?"
Emma sniffled a bit and held Kokoro tighter, not answering her question. Kokoro didn't mind though, she didn't care that much for the little details now anyway. Now that everything was over for them, they had a lot to catch up on.
"Emma. Should we walk around a bit? We can continue our conversations from when we were alive, and maybe more too," Kokoro suggested, letting herself smile as she guided the actress away from the group.
There was no point in hiding any secrets now between them, and their walk continued as they talked. Even when they reached their final destination with the group, they just returned to their original topic of the correlation between psychology and acting again.
