CHIMON
The hall is filled with students from different departments making the once empty one full of inaudible murmurs, cheers, and just mainly words with each other. The nervousness that I once had felt earlier - doubled, no, tripled as I crash my back against the backrest of the bench that I am sitting in. There are also plenty of students who are doing the try-out, and thankfully, I am able to join despite it being the last minute because they don't mind having more. As they say, the more - the merrier, though it would be harder for them to choose from. Fidgeting, I look up at the bleachers to see if my friends are already there, it is already six in the evening, and the game will start at seven.
"Hi," a familiar voice makes me twirl to the source and is met by the same face that I have seen from the library. "Fluke, remember?"
"Yes," I reply and bow a little bit before gazing back at the bleachers - none. And due to that, I have become even more nervous than I already am.
"Relax," Fluke notices and I offer him a sheepish smile. "They will be here, just relax and we want to be sure that you are ready for the game later on. Don't worry, it's not a real game - just a little game to see whom will they let in the club."
"I know," I mumble. "Do you think I can still back out? It hasn't started yet anyway, and besides, I don't really think that I am fit for this."
Fluke just giggles and raises an eyebrow, as if pinpointing the nonsense that I just spouted earlier, and I exhale a lot of air to continue and calm myself down - it isn't helping, at all. Then he gives my arm a light tap, juts his lips towards where the bleachers are, and I look up with a wide smile plastered all over my face.
"They're here," I say in an enthusiastic voice whilst waving my hand, who is reciprocated by more waves and cheers before they revealed the banner that they are holding.
Though embarrassed, I just laughed it off and gives them a nod of approval making them cheer even more though the event hasn't started yet. However, my happiness drops when I finally notice that despite the number of people that my friends gathered for me, the one and the only person that I wanted to see since earlier is not there with them.
With an air of dejection, I crash my back against the chair once more and start to feel a bit burdened. Perhaps, Nanon really didn't mean when he said that he wanted to see me play from the day before? Or perhaps, he really doesn't want to actually see me fail to know that I am not a good player myself? Ah, or maybe, he just doesn't want to see me at all?
I smile forcefully and this time, I just want to leave the court and go somewhere else while Fluke is still busy scanning on his newsfeed. Feeling determined, I am about to grab my bag from the floor when something cold is pressed against my nape making me snap my head in the direction of such monstrosity.
"Nanon," I say breathlessly making the male smile a soft one. "You're here."
Though confused with my reaction, he still nods and stares at Fluke, who by the way is sitting right next to me, he pays his homage to Nanon and gives up the seat. With a smirk, Nanon takes the seat and offers me the water which I take but not with the intention of drinking it, just holding it suppresses the amount of happiness that I am feeling.
