CHIMON
"Hello buddy, how was school today?" The man asked the kid who climbed on the back seat and buckled his seatbelt.
"It was fine Dad, I met someone at school earlier," he said and placed his small hands against his warm cheeks. "I think I like him."
"That's good to have friends. Let's go grab dinner first, okay?" The kid nodded and they soon drove away from the school grounds.
They were both having a hearty conversation about the kid's school and the little kid that he made friends with. They laughed their hearts out and that's the time when everything around them came crashing down!
For numerous times, the car flipped on the road while the seatbelt clung to the kid's chest, it pushed him back to his seat every time he moved forward.
Everything around him seemed to be in slow-motion while his eyes were locked on his Dad who tried to reach out for him in the back seat.
"NOOOOOOO!!!" The older man's voice rang in his ears and the kid's tears streamed down his face.
"Noooooo!!"
Tears damp my plump cheeks as it cascades endlessly while I sit up straight and pant for dear life. My body trembles involuntarily making me hug myself as I regulate my pulse to normal by letting out small and slow breathes of air through my mouth. But then again, it seems like the air around me diminished for I am not able to breathe in enough to soothe myself - but I try my best to draw breathe.
"I'm fine, it was just another dream. I'm alive, that was just a nightmare and there's nothing to be worried about," I continuously mumble to myself whilst running my fingertips on my arm until the hard beating on my chest goes to a tolerable rhythm.
Calming myself, I spread back into the bed then pulls the duvet over my head and shut my eyes tight once more. The plan of going back to sleep seems futile because my dream still lingers vividly in my mind like it just happened yesterday. Even Dad's expression feels so alive that it's almost scary to think of it, or more like a dream of it in the early mornings. Looking up at the ceiling, I see nothingness because my mind is already beyond that partition, and into a universe that I am taken to by my imagination. Letting the air expel through my mouth in a slow manner, I pacify myself and shut my eyes tight to focus on the calmness of the room that I am in.
"It was just a dream Chimon, it won't happen again. Just relax," I assuage myself.
As I continue to bask in the warmth and softness of my blanket the slices of the sun's rays hit my eyes and I grab the phone to check the time, it's three minutes before half-past six jus, and just before my alarm starts blaring loudly. Completely ignoring the churning in my stomach, I dilute the anxiousness that I am currently in before staring at the ceiling once again.
