CHIMON

Albeit a chilly walk from the university all the way to the café where I'm working, I endure and just wrap my scarf around my neck. Every now and then, I check the time, and right now, it flashes me 11:30. Thinking about it, I am way too early for my shift and I'm still hungry since I kinda ditched my lunch date. Still remembering the events that happened earlier, and how much of a sore loser I was from acting that way - I feel the need to at least apologize for such unruly behavior. My mind is elsewhere until I walk past a small diner, peek and check it the place is busy. Fortunately, it isn't and so I make my way inside and thinks that I might as well eat before I work.

The door opens with a jingle of a minute bell that is on top of the hinged barrier at the entrance. Once inside, I am welcomed with a very comfortable ambient with tables of pale pink cloth. There are five tables for a group of six people and five tables for two. An arc leading to the kitchen where you can see them cooking their masterpieces. And a handsome man behind the counter who then gives me a sheepish smile.

After being in reverie, I take the seat on the farthest part of the diner near the window, and right next to the door leading to a small patio. When I find myself in one of the invitingly snug seats, a waiter comes up and hands me the menu plus a glass of cold water — base on that sweat lingering on the said tall and clear glass.

After a moment, I scan the list of the dishes that they serve and is mesmerized and awed with how unbelievably cheap it is. This only means one thing, I found gold in the midst of this buzzing city. I am occupied with reading the descriptions when someone sits right across me. With that, I look up and narrows my eyes to the now pouting man matching those puppy eyes.

"Stalker," I say as a matter of factly and he laughs nervously. "Why are you even following me?"

"Love, I have been falsely accused of a crime that I didn't even do," Nanon mutters and points at his shirt, and me looking pleased about it.

"Uh-huh."

"I've removed the kiss mark for you, darling. And besides, my Dad once told me to follow my dreams," he smiles a proud one at that, at it is my turn to roll my eyes. "And so here I am in front of you."

"Goodness! I've never heard that like ages ago. You're not much of a sweet talker, I take back what I told you at class earlier," I smirk.

Nanon just sits there while I continue reading the menu, however, I noticed that there are also a few people looking in our direction which is unusual. And Nanon seems to not mind it at all, but what confuses me is that those stares show fear, confusion, and almost like - submission. Catching his attention, Nanon then looks around and everyone seems to flinch and go back to whatever they are doing and he sighs. Staring at him, I can perfectly tell that he isn't happy with the reaction that he got from others but when our gazes meet - he beams before I playfully raise a brow at him and he does the same thing, but in a more flirty kind of way than playful.
