Nevaeh sent Teddy a quick text, thanking him for the candy and roses. He wasn't in the class they shared, so she figured he was absent from school. A part of her wanted to skip and go to his house but she refrained from doing so. They needed to take baby steps to repair their relationship and she didn't want to rush things.

She walked out to the hall and saw London carrying a large stuffed animal. When she got closer, Nevaeh realized that it was an ape.

She pointed at it. "What in the hell is that?"

London wiggled it in the air. "I think he's adorable."

"Bravo, Christopher." Nevaeh clapped her hands together. "Didn't he get you jewelry last year?"

London smirked and shoved her left hand in Nevaeh's face. A small diamond was staring at her. "Jewelry this year too. Chris got me a promise ring. This furry animal is yours." London passed it to her.

Nevaeh frowned and lifted the banana the ape was holding. "I'm bananas about you," she said out loud. "No...who gave this to you?"

"Sammie."

"No..." she repeated. Nevaeh looked at the creature. "What in the world was he thinking? I don't even like bananas," she mumbled.

"It's the thought that counts."

"I guess...." Nevaeh didn't know what to say. She appreciated the gift but preferred teddy bears.

London could sense her apprehension. "Listen, Chris said that Sammie wants to ask you out. If you aren't feeling the same, you need to tell him."

Nevaeh held onto the ape. "No, I'm ready. Sammie has been so great to me these past weeks, so patient and considerate."

"True, but don't say yes because you feel like you owe him. Say yes because you want to."

"I want to. I want to see if what I imagined could be real," she confessed.

London smiled. "Good. Because there's more."

Nevaeh's eyes went big. "More of what?"

By the end of the day, she was walking around with two more gifts from Sammie and they were all awful, with a capital A.

After London, Jayda gave her a card from Sammie. Nevaeh thought it was sweet until she finished reading it and saw that it was meant for a dog. She frowned at the mistake and wondered if he read the entire card before buying it.

Chris popped up next with some chocolate. Nevaeh's mouth watered when she saw the heart shaped box of goodies and thought Sammie had redeemed himself. After popping one into her mouth, she realized they had nuts when she started to choke. She immediately felt her throat swell from the allergic reaction so she ran to nurse's office and got an epinephrine shot.

When another person showed up another gift, Nevaeh politely refused. "No. No. No. Where is he?" she demanded.

"Weight room."

Nevaeh walked in that direction. She didn't care that she was missing class or that there were other half naked boys in there lifting weights. She was only focused on Sammie. She found him bench pressing.

"Samuel!"

He placed the weights on the rack and sat up. "What are you doing here?"

She ignored his question. "You are the worst person at giving gifts! I don't want anything else. Please stop."
