[2] "I'm focused on the present, the future can wait."
"Where do you see yourself in 10 years?"
Sammie frowned. He was tired of everyone inquiring about his plans for the future. Since his senior year started back in August, it was a popular topic of discussion. It was now January, a few months before graduation in June and everyone was in a panic, looking forward to getting acceptance letters from colleges. Shit, he was looking forward to the weekend, not 10 years from now.
"I can't predict the future. I can tell you what I'll be doing 10 minutes from now, maybe 10 hours, but 10 years is out of my reach."
"You've never thought about it?" Jayda asked from behind the camera.
Sammie shook his head slightly. "I'm focused on the present, the future can wait. I'm thinking about what's going on in my life at this moment. Our next game, the next party we throw...the next girl Imma f*ck," he said honestly.
Jayda stopped recording. With her hands on her hips, she stepped from behind the camera. She wanted to laugh but was trying to maintain a serious demeanor. "You can't say f*ck in the video yearbook, Sammie."
"Skeet?"
"No."
"Bang?"
Jayda shook her head. "Nope."
"Screw?" he added.
"No, Sammie!" She was getting frustrated with her cousin, it was clearly written across her face. "This will be seen by all of the faculty and staff plus the parents. Please be good," she pleaded.
Sammie straighten in his chair. A mischievous grin appeared. "I got you."
"Thanks. I'm editing out what you said before."
Sammie gave her a thumbs up.
Jayda started recording again. The red light turned back on the camera. "What's your favorite quote?" she asked to get Sammie talking again.
"P*ssy, money, weed. That's all a nigga need. By A$SP Rocky," Sammie replied quickly.
Jayda stopped the camera again. If looks could kill, Sammie would've been dead on the floor of the studio. If she had a gun, a bullet would have been imbedded in his body. Maybe two.
She pointed to the door. "Get out!"
He laughed. "I'm done, I promise."
"Sammie you play too much."
"And usually you're right along with me," he replied.
"But this is important and I have to do the entire senior class. Can you be serious for 5 minutes?"
Sammie sighed dramatically. "Fine! But only for you."
Jayda gave him the signal that she was ready.
He cleared his throat. "I don't know where I'll be in 10 years but I plan on being happy. Having fun and enjoying life is a major goal of mine. In my most honest opinion, if you're not laughing at least once a day, something needs to change in your life." He paused. "And if you aren't fucking at least 4 days a week, you need someone new. You can call me at - ouch!"
Sammie was interrupted by the heavy hands that belonged to Jayda. "Take your stink ass out of here," she yelled.
Sammie laughed and ran out of the room.
