[4] "When it comes to you, they go crazy."
Monday Afternoon
Coming off of a three week vacation was hard for Nevaeh to adjust to. She really realized it as she walked out to her car that afternoon. The slight breeze of the January weather was brushing against her face causing her to bundle up. She momentarily daydreamed about living in FL where it was close to 80 degrees.
Her phone started to chirp alerting her to a new message. It chirped again so she plucked the device from her bag. The texts were coming from Jayda.
Have you seen it?
Nevaeh was confused. Seen what? She texted back.
Quincy's car, Jayda replied instantly.
Did he get a new one?
Nevaeh was still lost. She had already seen his car. When Quincy was given the new Lexus for Christmas, he plastered pictures of it on facebook.
No stupid, Jayda returned.
Nevaeh groaned. She could picture Jayda rolling her eyes. She wasn't in the mood for her. It was the first day back and the teacher's were already bombarding her with homework. She just wanted to get home and crash against her mattress. Staying after school was not a plan but she became trapped by her cheerleading coach when she was trying to escape.
Nevaeh tried to call Jayda but was sent to voicemail. It's not important. She headed to the parking lot and saw everyone standing in a group. What in the world? Feeling curious, she squeezed her way through the crowd. She gasped when she saw the subject of everyone's attention.
Quincy's car was on bricks with the tires and rims gone. To make the situation worse, the words Happy New Year were spray painted across the side. Poor Quincy looked like he wanted to cry.
"Oh my God."
When the words escaped from her lips, Quincy turned and looked at her. He scowled. "Tell your body guards that the message was heard. I won't talk to you."
Nevaeh instantly knew the meaning behind the words. "They didn't do this!"
Quincy snorted. "Yeah, okay. They're not innocent, Vay."
"They wouldn't," she conveyed. Or would they?
A tow truck pulled up and Quincy left the crowd to greet it. Everyone turned and stared at her. Nevaeh walked away from the prying eyes. She was going to kill Sammie and Teddy. She was opening the door of her Volvo when someone called her name.
"Vay!"
Nevaeh turned to see Jayda running her way. She stopped and hunched over when she got close. "Shit, I'm out of shape," she stated while breathing heavy.
"I'm going to kill your cousins," Vay growled.
"You think they did it?"
It was a strong possibility, especially since he spoke to her today. Teddy and Sammie seemed upset by it, Nevaeh thought. "Who else would do it?"
"I heard sponge bob is becoming a real nuisance."
"Jayda."
She chuckled. "What?"
Nevaeh groaned and pulled her phone out and called Sammie.
"Hello, Nevaeh Nicole," he answered.
"Sammie, did you mess up Quincy's car?" she asked quickly.
He paused. "Who's Quincy?"
Nevaeh hung up on him. She didn't have patience to deal with Sammie right now. Teddy wouldn't lie to her. She called him next.
