"Yes!" Yeri cheered as she beat Kook yet again in their...was it sixth or seventh table soccer round? She had lost count but she was having too much fun.
Kook was about as competitive as she was and it had been such a long time since she was able to let loose and play for real with someone who knew the game. None of her friends had ever been interested in arcade tabletop games or computer games so playing against Kook was a pleasant surprise.
They hadn't let any of the other party-goers take their game and they even amassed a little crowd that watched them, adding on to the hype and excitement. People eventually drifted away though when they kept on playing but Yeri didn't care.
She wanted to make the most of her opportunity to let loose, no matter how weird the situation happened to be.
It didn't hurt that Kook was also laid-back and chill to talk about fashion and music bands in between routing each other.
She glanced up from time to time, making sure Chaeyoung was safe after Lisa Diamond had whisked her away into a booth.
The two of them were sitting much closer now, laughing together. Lisa was turned towards Chaeyoung, nodding intently whilst her friend seemed to have lost her stiff posture.
There were more beer bottles sitting on the table now and when Yeri squinted, she could distinctly make out Lisa's hand was draped behind Chaeyoung's seat. Chaeyoung herself had slipped out of her jacket, leaving her in her sleep T-shirt.
Yeri was struck by how relaxed her friend looked. she hadn't seen Chaeyoung be this open with someone she just met since...well, since forever.
"Correct me if I'm wrong," Yeri said slowly, "but your friend appears to be hitting on my friend."
"You're not wrong," Kook said as he fished up fresh ping pong balls to start a new game. He seemed unbothered by Yeri's observation.
"Yeah, but my friend's not into that."
"Oh?" Kook paused, a sly smile taking over his face. "Tell you what, why don't we play a new game..."

"...so Chanyeol's just, like, all over me and I feel like...he just doesn't get me you know? Do you ever feel like that? Like nobody ever understands you. It's exhausting," Chaeyoung sighed.
"Yes, totally, all the time," Lisa echoed. "Misunderstood should be my middle name, I think it would totally fit, you know? Lisa Misunderstood Diamond. Wait..."
When their laughter subsided, Chaeyoung smiled at her, eyes soft. "I'm really glad I met you."
Lisa mirrored her smile. She had discovered that she liked knowing she was the cause of Chaeyoung's laughter, or her smile, or her eyes disappearing into crescents.
"I'm really glad I met you too."
And then it happened: Chaeyoung glanced down at her mouth and bit her lip.
It set Lisa's insides churning in a frenzy: lip-bites were a weakness that immediately made her want to kiss the oblivious blonde senseless.
But Lisa didn't react. She kept calm and she waited for Chaeyoung to make her move first. This was crucial: she didn't want to ruin the moment by being too forward, not when Chaeyoung was still testing the waters.
However, the moment didn't come. Chaeyoung looked away, flustered, moving restlessly in her seat.
"I should go," she announced.
The jarring disappointment seethed in Lisa's chest but she tampered it down. "Okay..."
Yet Chaeyoung was not done surprising her, much to her delight.
