Chou Tzuyu was a scorned woman.
It wasn't like she hadn't been turned down before but to have the queen of them all, the Diamond herself, turn her down because she 'just wasn't interested' hit Tzuyu harder then her string of hit-and-miss dates.
L.A was no Paris; there were no august boulevards and romantic bridges and quaint restaurants to be found, but Tzuyu had figured she might at least find someone to keep her company amongst the burgeoning criminal community in the city.
Chou Tzuyu wasn't a picky woman: man, woman or in-between, all were welcome.
She just wanted someone to warm her bed and keep her company on lonely nights. Relationships might be harder to maintain given her profession, but Tzuyu was willing to work on that if the opportunity of maintaining longer-term contact cropped up.
Yet even this wistful notion seemed to be just hot air, if her latest disappointment at Lisa's hands was any indication. It made her wonder if she was losing her touch on communicating with people, if something within her broke the more people she killed until eventually it would be irreparable.
She had been thrilled when she received word from Lisa's henchman Kook that his boss was interested in a date.
It looked like Fortune was finally smiling down on her—she had scored a date, not even a commission meeting, but a romantic date—with the elusive and reclusive criminal mastermind herself, the object of many a suitor's interest.
The very next day, Tzuyu (well-disguised to avoid being spotted by cops) had walked into the most high-end malls LA could offer, preening and trying on outfits in a tizzy.
She had been eyeing Lisa for the longest time from afar, wondering what it would be like to walk around with the ruthless supervillain on her arm as the world bowed at their feet.
All her fantasies crashed and burned when Lisa rejected her behind the bar counter during the shootout that ensued with those dratted D.E.B.S girls.
Since then, Tzuyu had retreated to lick her wounds and recover from the stinging rejection, prowling the city streets and back alleys in search of her next commission or next distraction.
Both seemed to be in scarce supply, driving her further into her depressive spiral.
But then she saw them.
It was quite by accident. She was wandering the baked streets in downtown L.A. or was it east —she was still getting used to the weird division names in this country—when she happened to glance aside and her eyes fell on two girls sharing a milkshake under the awning of a nondescript retro themed café.
Tzuyu would have continued on her way, stewing in bitterness, hadn't she noticed the diamond stud earrings that the dark-haired girl wore.
Lisa Diamond was virtually unrecognisable, casually wearing a purple T-shirt and plain jeans rather than her usual black attire. She was sharing a vanilla milkshake in a tall glass with a blonde girl, both of them drinking through straws and doing their utmost to hold back their giggles as they sipped, foreheads brushing.
Lisa's eyes were alive with mirth in a way Tzuyu hadn't seen during their date. To make matters worse, Lisa was looking at the blonde with such a tender expression whilst the girl ducked her head and laughed at something she said that it made something in Tzuyu shrivel up and die on the spot.
That blonde girl...Tzuyu knew her. She looked closer before it hit her.
She had seen her at the restaurant!
The one responsible for ruining her date. The D.E.B.S girl that had everyone in an uproar over her disappearance.
Miss Perfect Score.
Tzuyu felt her guts writhe like a snake-infested pit, a strange burst of heat climbing to her cheeks and making her jaw clench with fury.
How dare Lisa insult her like that? Moving on so quickly as though she truly didn't care about her? And with the girl that ruined their date, of all people?
Lisa truly was a heartless bitch.
The assassin turned stiffly and walked away with rigid steps, unable to see the pair so disgustingly in love, or hear their giggles for a second longer.
Chou Tzuyu was a scorned woman, and you did not want to get on her wrong side when she was plotting revenge.
