D.E.B.S Hall of Heroines, 13:00

"A D.E.B is down," Ms Young informed gravely from the podium.

Her audience consisted of a stupefied and largely silent student body, save for the few sniffles here and there, along with academy staff and instructors.

There hadn't been an Extraordinary Assembly in a long time, because D.E.B.S Academy prided itself on its preparation of the agents to face virtually any situation and come out as survivors and victors, by hook or by crook.

Such an event was unprecedented, but then again, Chaeyoung had the misfortune of going up against the baddest of them all, Lisa Diamond.

Behind Ms Young stood Jennie, Yeri and Jisoo together with Ms Young's assistant in a single row. There was even Chanyeol in his black Homeland Security gear. All of them wore sombre faces as Ms Young delivered the news of Chaeyoung's capture.

"What's Chanyeol doing here, I thought we hated him?" Yeri whispered to Jisoo.

"Desperate times call for desperate measures," Jisoo whispered back. "Homeland Security are involved because he's involved, so they will take the search more seriously."

"Just because Rosie is his ex? I thought he didn't want anything to do with her?" Yeri frowned as Ms Young droned on, naming Chaeyoung's attributes, her various achievements and importance to the Academy.

"We will spare no expense. We will leave no rock unturned. We will not rest until we see that she comes back safely," Ms Young finished, her powerful voice ringing around the hall with finality.

Days passed, the shadows stretched longer as summer approached but Chaeyoung simply didn't turn up anywhere, despite extensive and long hours of searching.

Daily, about two or three times a day, Yeri would pick up her flip phone and leave a voice message for Chaeyoung, ranging from mildly threatening to pleading.

She had discovered Chaeyoung's communicator watch was still online and while she had been unsuccessful in tracking its location, she had resolved not to tell anybody. Chaeyoung's threat of outing her mistakes still rang hollow in her ear every time her resolve wavered.

So, against her better judgement, Yeri bravely kept Chaeyoung's secret, hoping to bring her friend to her senses if she persisted long enough.

"Rosie, I know you're out playing hooky with Lisa but you need to come home, the whole school's searching for you, Chanyeol, everybody! Your parents are worried sick too, I'm sure."

__________

"Rosie I swear if you don't answer this I'm calling your mother and tell her everything! I'll...I'll tell her you're gay! I'm going to call her right now, right this minute, after I dig up her phone number."

"Kook, don't move!" Chaeyoung giggled with her new sketchbook open in front of her, pen poised in her hand.

"You heard the lady, Kook," Lisa scolded, doing her utmost to keep a straight face.

"My nose is itching," he complained.

After Lisa had gotten her a new sketchbook to replace her old one she left behind at the dorm, Chaeyoung had taken it upon herself to make the most of her now ample free time and draw to her heart's content.

When Kook and Lisa took her for a day to a private secluded cove at Venice Beach that Lisa owned (because of course she did) for a day of swimming, snorkelling and playing in the sand, with even some of the mercenaries from Lisa's gang joining a competitive game of beach volleyball, Chaeyoung had drawn and drawn until her hand was smudged with ink.
