These were the four pillars upon which the D.E.B.S code of honour was constructed.
The motto that was chanted at every morning assembly before class. The motto that was embossed on every piece of insignia on campus and within the dorm houses.
The motto that was drilled into the girls that attended Jameston University after being recruited by a paramilitary government agency when they passed the mysterious test hidden within the national SAT exams.
Jameston University does not exist—it is merely the facade for the D.E.B.S Academy.
What the test measures is a closely guarded secret, though many speculations abound.
The most popular theory suggests that the test measures one's aptitude for espionage, since that was after all what the girls were thereafter training to be in the D.E.B.S program. The theory did not elaborate on how this was determined, because nobody had any clue.
Another commonly accepted belief said the test measured how well you could cheat without being caught, which was of course a useful skill to have when it came to espionage.
Others believed that the test was a mind-game invisible to the untrained eye, but one that your brain solved unconsciously, if you had the aptitude for it.
Still others dismissed it all as a hoax conspiracy that the government cooked up as a soft form of conscription for women, with the girls being recruited at random to fill in the national reserve.
One thing is for sure: only one person in the extensive history of the D.E.B.S program has ever achieved a perfect score on the secret test.
