chapter 63 disappointment, guiltiness and lies

Selena was sitting in her office, staring at the floor as she held her cup of coffee in her hands. Zayn had called her yesterday. It took her 13 times to pick the call. Her father, whom she had been fighting with repeatedly for the past ten years and once again disappointed her. He ruined the closest thing from gratitude and respect she could feel about him despite everything he did to her and her mum.

someone knocked on the door:

'If it is you, Dan, you can leave. I don't wanna see or talk to you.'

The door slowly opened:

'What did I just say...' she sighed when he entered.

'Selena, please give me a chance.' he begged.

'A chance? I've been giving you a hundred chances, dad, and whenever you're close to what we could call my forgiveness, you ruin everything.' she announced without giving him a look.

'That made me crazy, okay? So I lost my temper!' he tried to justify himself.

'You've been losing your temper for your whole life. you lost your temper with mum, you lost your temper when I started asking questions, you lost your temper when I was dating Tyler when mum died, and when you kicked me out of your life for basically no reason and now....' She said, still avoiding visual contact.

'You already know that I'm sorry for that!'

'I'm almost 28, and I've learned to be self-sufficient!' She raised her eyes to meet his.

'You can't fucking turn your back on me. I'm your father!' Spoon yelled.

'God, I've tried! You know how many fucking times I tried to keep every piece of us together, but for fucks sake, whenever I'm close to forgetting all the shit you made me go through, you remind me every reason why I can't live near you!' she said in the same tone, standing up from her chair.

'Selena...'

'No, Dad, I swear to God I've tried; I kept trying, but if you haven't been able to change in ten years, you never will, and there's the truth.' She whispered.

'I have changed!' He swore

'Then stop proving me right.' She said, crossing his way.

The young woman had gotten her heartbroken by the man she loved; she had been disappointed by her father for the hundredth time. But, so many things were going through her head right now, she forgot to ask Zayn what he discovered about their parents.

She left the club to go back to Alyssa's house, the only place left where she felt like belonging.

Memories of yesterday's fight kept reappearing in her head. Those pictures of her father hitting the man she loved for the second time hurt more than she could've imagined.

Zayn grabbed the keys of one of his giant collection of cars and drove in the street without knowing where he was going. Instead, he somehow followed his heart.

He stood in front of the big black building on the other side.

He parked a few blocks away.

He knew what he was doing.

He was waiting for her.

His phone buzzed:

'I give you one chance: you'll have 10 minutes.'

The young spy smiled when he read the message from his beloved, but his focus was still on her.

'I'll be there.'

He saw the woman he had been looking for entering a white car, he followed her discreetly.

The two cars moved at the same pace on las vegas roads, without ever losing sight of each other.

She parked her car in front of an old house on the outskirts of my town.

They both got out of their cars at the same time.

She felt like someone was following her and turned around.

'You?!' She yelled.

He put his gun out faster than she did.

'Can you stop yelling for fucks sake?' Zayn screamed as he walked towards her.

'What do you want?' she sighed.

'I know your parents.' he just said.

'No, you don't. You're just aware of my weaknesses!'

'How? All the time I've spent with you, you kept insulting me? you never talked about yourself?'

'that doesn't mean I can trust you!' the mysterious woman said.

'Your dad was mine.'

She burst out laughing.

'Me? You? Related? Never.' She said.

'Then explain this?' He asked, showing her the cloud mark on his neck.

'Fuck?' She uttered.

'We can even do a DNA test if you still don't believe me!'

Zayn's phone buzzed --again---

'Where are you? It's getting late.'

'Alyssa, right?' she frowned.

'Yeah, I have to go.' Zayn said before he kissed her forehead.

'Call me whenever you need; you're no longer alone, Jelana.' He blew a kiss before running to his car
