Chapter 13 ➵ Never in a billion years (corrected)
The sleeping beauty has been woken up around 5:47 PM by her phone ringing:
'Agent 4040, what do you want?' She asked as she picked up the call.
'You've got a meeting with the boss at 2:00 AM. Don't be late.'
'I won't.' The blondie concluded.
'Have I ever been late?' She ironically thought.
She got out of her white cocooning bed and walked to her closet. She took her yellow-waitress uniform and a yellow satin dress for the meeting.
Afterward, she got dressed she drove through Las Vegas to the striptease club. Alyssa pressed the gate handle and pushed the door violently. Anna dropped her phone down, surprised by Sassy's entry.
'Calm down, it's just me...' Alyssa said, confused, used to her colleague's reactions like these.
'I'll call you back, V.' The Mexican black-eyed woman hung up the phone hastily.
'Were... weren't you supposed to go back home, to take some rest.' Anna interrogated, trying to hide the stress of her shaking voice.
'I changed my mind.' the blue-eye agent coldly replied, irritated.
'Well... then, I'm gonna let you work...' the stressed waitress concluded, leaving as fast as possible the club.
'Strange.' Aly whispered.
While she was serving a few clients, Zayn was flying in the OS' private helicopter. Through the Las Vegas sky, he could watch and admire the colorful lights of the Casinos and Hotels. The Black-haired guy turned his head just a little bit. He noticed his neighborhood, the place where it all began, where the problems had all started, the tiny houses on the edge of destruction, the burned cars... Even hundreds of feet higher, Zayn could smell the traded drugs and manufactured there.
He imagined a kid, just like him, a kid who'd one day wake up in the morning with nothing left, no more friends, no more family but two ways and one to choose, either killing or either dying. Whatever this kid would prefer, he would make a mistake.
This was a vicious circle no one can end: either you kill, or you'll be killed.
When he started feeling nauseous, he threw these thoughts away and focused on his mission.
The helicopter slowed down and stopped in the middle of the courtyard. Everyone's eyes turned to Zayn. He pressed his earphone, the one Victoria gave him a few hours ago, and said:
'Everyone's watching me.'
'I know!' Victoria replied
'Why can't I work discretely as I used to.' the golden-eyed man simply asked.
'We're not working that way, babe, remember?'
Zayn passed the door and remembered how his life was supposed to be... There should never have been these deaths: Marc and Chic should've stayed alive. Zayn's father shouldn't have left. His mom shouldn't have been left all alone for 10 years, without knowing if her husband and the only remaining son she had left were alive. Then he remembered that he was the cause of all that and stopped thinking about his past, full of secrets.
The black-haired man walked through the corridors to the hotel reception desk.
'Hello, Welcome to the Wynn of Las Vegas. How can I help you?' The receptionist politely asked.
'I'm Rodger Almond, my assistant called you this morning.' he started.
'Oh, yeah, I remember, give me your identity papers, my colleague will send you to your room.'
'Wait a minute...' Zayn mumbled as he was groping the inside pockets of his black jacket to find the fake IDs. 'There you go.'
'Everything's good. Here is the key.' She concluded after checking out the IDs.
The Pakistani walked to the elevator, followed by a man who's gonna show him his room. No one talked, and heavy silence surrounded the space. Z was just walking, following the guy to the room.
'Room number 4939, if you need anything, call us, with the phone right there. Have a good night.' The young guy declared.
'Okay. Bye.' Zayn nonchalantly answered, annoyed. He knew everything about this hotel and probably more than the employees.
'Ugh, I'm in. The personals are so boring here.' He declared openly, pressing his earpiece.
'Okay, you should sleep a little. Tomorrow's a great day!' Victoria advised.
'I'll do that. Good night babe.' He completed, taking off both his earphone and his clothes.
Afterward, Aly got out of the striptease club and waited for Club Delux's yellow car to pick her up.
When the fake taxi arrived, Alyssa opened the door, and the driver went as fast as possible to the club.
He left Alyssa in front of the entrance and parked the car. Alyssa looked at the vigils. They approved, knowing she was working here, and opened the door. Goldilocks went through the nightclub room and walked to the VIP zone, Aly put her hand on the wall, and a door opened.
She closed it and went up the stairs.
The only sound in the room was her heels' She pushed the white door and arrived in a small corridor with a red carpet.
In front of her, there were three doors. One was Spoon's office, one other was his apartment, where she grew up, and the third was still unknown. The blondie knocked on the door, and it was her boss who directly opened the door, which was very strange when he had a rendezvous with his agent. He is always sitting on the white leather couch, and it's one of his employees who opens the door.
'Da... I mean, M.Spoon... you wanted to see me?' She asked.
'Yes, Alyssa, Dear, please take a seat. We are waiting for another agent.' He invited her to the couch.
As of now, Aly thought Spoon realized she had sex with Zayn, and he had summoned them both to talk about how they broke the first rule.
'What... what is about?'
'About you and another agent.' The boss simply declared.
They waited for the other agent to show up.
'Sorry, I'm late.' He apologized. 'What the f...'
'What is he doing here?!' Aly exclaimed, standing up.
'Calm down. Both of you.' Spoon yelled. 'Alyssa, here his your new partner.' He continued.
'Never in a billion years.' They both said.
'Very funny... I'm working alone, you know it.' The woman laughed.
'I'm not kidding, Alyssa. You've been kidnapped 3 times this month and...'
'Look, I'm alive! I can handle it!' She defended herself
'Sir, I already have a partner.' James reminded.
'He has left! It's been 2 weeks, he left, and he won't come back!' The old man screamed. 'Zayn is no longer working with us...'
