"Yeah, y'all should see her face whenever he texts her. She's never smiling at her phone like that." Alex smirked.
"Alex! Stop exposing me!" Tiffany threw a pillow at her.
"Who is it?" Emma wiggled her eyebrows.
"He's a childhood friend, okay!" Tiffany said quickly.
"What's his name?" Olivia asked. "Is he in our uni?"
"No, he's working abroad." Tiffany replied.
"What's his name?" Willow pressed.
"Um...it's...it's Mark," Tiffany said. "Not Mark Lee, obviously."
"Wait, you're from Vancouver too, right?" Willow narrowed her eyes.
"Yeah, but he's not that Mark." Tiffany insisted.
Her phone rang.
"I gotta take this call."
"Is it from Mark?" Emma laughed.
"Shut up!" Tiffany groaned as she picked up.
It was her mom, FaceTiming her.
"Ma~" Tiffany smiled.
"Tiffany!" her mom laughed. "Look, I'm at aunty's house!"
"I know, I know. No need to make me jealous," Tiffany teased.
"Tiffany!" another voice chimed in as Mrs. Lee leaned into the frame.
"Aunty!" Tiffany waved. "Is Mark there?"
"Oh, not yet," her mom said.
Right then, the doorbell rang behind her mom.
"It's Mark!" her mom smiled.
"Aunty!" Mark's voice came from the background and Tiffany's heart instantly started racing.
He stepped into frame.
"Hey, Tiff," he said softly.
"Mark." She smiled, pressing her lips together to stop herself from grinning too hard.
"I'll hang up now, Tiff," her mom said.
"Yeah, okay. Bye, Mark."
"I'll text you later?" he asked.
She nodded.

Even though it was just a normal call, Tiffany's heart sped up the moment she heard his voice.
She had missed him more than she wanted to admit.
"So..." Mark laughed awkwardly. "You're telling me you've been in four relationships and one of them was a guy named Steve?"
"Yeah?" Tiffany said. "What's there to laugh about?"
"Nothing," he chuckled. "Just weird thinking someone dated you."
"Mark," she warned.
He laughed again, then softened. "Did you ever date anyone seriously?"
"Three of them were serious," she admitted.
"So why did you break up?"
She sighed quietly.
"One said I was too clingy. One said I worried too much. And the last one...we were both too busy. Studying. Life. We just didn't have time for each other anymore."
There was a pause.
"I don't even care anymore," she said softly.
Mark stayed quiet for a second longer than normal.
