"Wait..." She noticed his expression. "You're gonna make your solo debut?!"

"Sh, no one knows!" he laughed. "And that's not what I was going to tell you!"

"What the fuck, Mark..." She leaned in and hugged him tightly. "I'm so proud of you. I don't think I say that enough."

He froze for half a second before hugging her back.

"Thanks, man."

"I love you so much." She ruffled his hair before pulling away.

They said I love you all the time, it was normal, casual, friendly.

But hearing it from her after so many years made his heart race and his cheeks heat up.

"I love you more," he said.

She smiled. "So...what did you actually want to tell me?"

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Um...it's kinda embarrassing."

"You know what's more embarrassing?" she said seriously.

He frowned. "What?"

"That night."

"What night?"

"The night you peed your pants in front of me."

He groaned. "I swear to God, I'm gonna choke you."

"Kinky," she smirked.

"Dude!" He threw a pillow at her.

"Sir, this is violence." She laughed, tossing it back. "Marko. What is it?"

He inhaled slowly.

"Okay...so...I might've had a crush on you when I left Canada."

She stared at him.

"...What?"

"I mean, I did. I think since we were, like...ten?" He looked at the ceiling, then back at her nervously.

She slowly grabbed a pillow and screamed into it.

"Are you okay-" he asked, startled.

She lifted her head, face completely red.

"I can't fucking believe you liked me back."

"Back?!" he spluttered. "You had a crush on me too?!"

She screamed into the pillow again.

"You don't still like me that way, do you?" she asked.

"What? Pfft, no," he said quickly.

Ouch.

"Oh." She nodded. "Cool."

"You?" he asked.

"Haha, no way," she laughed too fast.

Silence.

Thick, awkward, loud silence.

They both stared at nothing.

"Actually-" they both started.

He laughed nervously. "You go."

"No, you."

"Okay, um-"

A knock interrupted them.

She stood up and opened the door to find Mark's dad.

"Did I interrupt something?"

"No, no," Mark said quickly.

"I just came to tell you both to sleep. It's two a.m. You can talk tomorrow."

Mark jumped up. "Yeah, yeah, we should sleep."

His dad nodded and walked away.

"Goodnight, Mark," she said softly.

"Goodnight, Tiff." He leaned in and hugged her.

" He leaned in and hugged her
