"How's the weather there?" he asked.
"It's good. How was it to finally meet Uncle and Aunty?" she asked.
"It was really nice...it felt like I was ten again, going over to their place for dinner. It reminded me of those Christmas dinners we used to have every year," he said.
She smiled softly at that, a rush of old memories filling her chest, winters, fairy lights, laughter, Mark stealing cookies from the kitchen when he thought no one was looking.
Once, she had imagined being more than just friends with him.
She remembered how her heart had sunk when he told her he'd auditioned and been accepted and would be leaving for Korea. How empty things felt after he left. Her feelings never really disappeared, they just shifted. From a childhood crush into something distant, something softer, a celebrity crush.
Because that was all it could be now.
After all, he was an idol and she was just a fan.
Mark noticed the way her smile faded, just slightly. And if he was being honest, in that moment all he wanted was to reach through the screen and pull her into a hug.
God, he missed her.

Tiffany looked up from her laptop when the doorbell rang.
She walked over and found a parcel sitting on the doorstep.
Oh. Her album.
She picked it up eagerly and tore it open, revealing the latest NCT 127 album. She flipped it open, laughing softly when the first photocard she pulled was Mark's.
Of course.
She skimmed through the photobook until something made her pause.
A handwritten note. She leaned closer and read it.
Not gonna lie, I wish I could hug you right now. I can't wait for you to come to Seoul. I hope everything's going well there and that your exams aren't too stressful. I miss you, hope we meet soon. ♡
Her heart did a stupid little flip.
She grabbed her phone immediately.
