Chapter 12 - Fresh Start

Instead of spending the day locked away they all decided to get some much needed errands done. V headed home to unpack all her stuff. She had messaged Mr. Compress to say she was ready to start working again. The temp was doing their best but he told V she saw them in a different way that worked.

V was folding her clothes back in her drawers when her doorbell rang. She wasn't expecting anyone so she was confused. She was in for a shock when she opened her door.

"Miss V, we need to talk. May I come in?"

"What are you doing at my house? Did you come here to tell me stay away from your son? I have nothing to say to you."

"If I could have one minute."

"You took everything from me and you want a minute? You don't deserve one second of my time but here you are doing what you do best and just taking."

"I want to apologize."

"What you did won't EVER be fixed by an apology." Suddenly she heard a bike pull up, Dabi. "Get out of here, if it wasn't for him I would have already killed you and gladly went to prison for life. I probably would be seen as a hero for taking you down. The untouchable Enji Todoroki."

"ENJI!!! HOW DARE YOU!!" Dabi ran up and punched Enji across the face making him stumble. It had been years since he's seen his father but hitting him felt great. "Don't you ever speak to her again." Dabi turned to V, "are you ok?"

V nodded her head but then shook it, "I don't know."

Dabi could tell she was fighting the tears that were right on the edge. "Go inside, I'll take care of this." He turned back to Enji who was rubbing his face. "What are you doing here?"

"I came here to apologize and find a way to make it right."

"You understand you can't make it right, you killed her life. He husband and child. You can't bring them back."

"I'm trying to fix things, I know I wasn't perfect but listen to me Toya .."

"Don't call me that. Toya is dead and he's never coming back. You don't get it do you. You can apologize but it's up to her when and if she is ever willing to forgive you. Even if she forgives you she doesn't owe you anything. It's for her, so she can move forward. Not for you. As for me, you can't erase the abuse you and mother did to us. Mother I can probably forgive because she was pushed to that point by you."

"Toy ... I mean Dabi, I want to be better to you. To your siblings and to your mother. All I'm asking for is a chance."

"She means everything to me, I would set the world on fire if she wished it. If she said she wanted you dead.." He stared Enji down and saw his eyes flash with fear, "I wouldn't hesitate. Do you understand?"

Enji quickly composed himself, "Yes, well please know I do want to try and I am truly sorry I hurt her. She knows how to reach me if she does want to talk. I'll listen to what ever she has to say."

Dabi watched him drive away before heading inside, V was sitting on the ground sobbing. He quickly ran to her and pulled her on his lap. "It's ok, he's gone. It's just you and me."

"Would you really kill him if I asked?" She looked and saw he was confused, "Doorbell camera, I heard everything."

"Oh yeah, duh. I mean if that's what you wanted then of course."

"I don't want that not only because it's wrong but because you would be taken away from me. What's funny is I told him if I didn't have you I would have killed him right when I opened my door. I'm sorry I know he's your father "
