Chapter 16 - The Hunt

As soon as V had gone around the corner she took off running. She wasn't going to put Dabi's life in jeopardy, she knew she would not be able to handle it if something happened to him. She found the bathroom and after looking around to make sure no one was watching she went in. As soon as the door closed someone grabbed her from behind and stuck a gun in her side.

"So here's what's going happen, we are going to walk out of here together quickly and if you try to get anyone's attention or even look like you're going to run I'll have my guy take the shot. Understand?"

"Tch Kai you snake." She saw his reflection in the mirror and he had a smug smile like he already won.

"All I have to do is hit send sweetheart." He waved a phone in front of her with his thumb hovering over send.

V was angry and she wanted to fight back but she had to make sure Dabi was safe first, "Fine, let's go."

"Stay close" He jabbed the gun in her side again to remind her it was there.

They walked out to the parking lot and Kai quickly looked around, "Give me your phone, you are going to record a message for him."

"I dropped it while I was running."

"You stupid bitch." He backhanded her across the face with the gun. "Fine use this one, tell him you're leaving him and it's over." He handed her another phone from his jacket.

"What?"

"Do it fast, we need to get out of here. And make it convincing, don't try anything cute."

V grabbed the phone and dailed Dabi's number, voice-mail of course because he was on stage.

"Hey its me. I can't do this anymore, us. Please don't try and find me, I threw my phone away so I won't answer even if you tried to call. Find your happiness, I don't deserve one." She sounded scared which could probably be taken as sad.

Kai pulled the phone from her hands and ended the call. "Good that will buy me some time. Now time for you to sleep sweetheart."

Before she could say anything Kai had covered her mouth with a cloth dipped in chloroform and she passed out. Kai quickly put her into the trunk and then sped off. He had to put as much distance as possible while he had the chance. What better way to kill two birds with one stone. He'll kill V, let everyone know Enji paid him to and then Dabi would kill Enji for it. It was the perfect plan, so what if he would end up going to jail, he lost everything already.

Shigaraki threw his phone at Dabi, "put in the address. Do you think you should call first or just want to show up in a fiery inferno? Right now I'm good with just driving through the front door."

Dabi entered the address and then pulled out his own phone, "Damn Shiggy you're suppose to be the calm one. I'll text Natsuo to give .... I have a voice-mail. I don't know the number." He opened his messages and played it on speaker. As soon as he heard her voice his blood went to ice.

"That's V", Shigaraki tried to focus on the road while they listened to the call.

It finished and Dabi was confused, "She's leaving me?"

Shigaraki rolled his eyes, "Dude did we hear the same message. Someone was forcing her to say that, it was Kai. She would never leave you. Plus she said she threw her phone away when she obviously gave it to Nikki. She's trying to make sure you put it together."

"Sorry, yeah of course. I'm just really overwhelmed, I was suppose to keep her safe and I failed."

"She was keeping you safe, that's why she went. She wants you to find her."
