Well, it was actually a surprise test, l wasn't prepared. I am sorry dad, l promise, l will work really hard and do well in the next one.... no.. no, my fault. Teachers are very good here. You don't need to talk with them. Yeah, I know dad. I will really work hard this time. I will dad... Ok, bye. Yeah, l will start studying right away. Ending the call I sighed. These class tests are making my life hell.
'Who is it sis?' Kathy entered smiling in the room. Jiya was also with her, looking happy and tired in the same time.
'Dad,' l said sadly.' He got the message of my marks in class tests.'
'Opps! Feeling sympathy for you', Kathy said while climbing on her bed. Jiya sat on her desk quietly and started writing something.
'You don't seem to be sympathetic,' l said suspiciously. 'You did worse than mine, why aren't you worried.'
'Cause, I don't need to be doctor like you, l can do whatever I want', said Kathy jokingly.
'You said that your family won't let you learn boxing', l said surprisedly.
She sighed. 'Anything decent.'
'Decent? Like?' I asked.
'Like businesswoman, doctor, engineer, teacher, politician, social worker. Even housewife, Kathy said. It depends on me what l choose according to my ability. But unfortunately, l like boxing. To my family, it's a cheap, indecent profession, for those who belongs to low class family and haven't any self respect,' Kathy chuckled sarcastically.
'To your family, what else are cheap professions?'
'Cricket, football,cycling, swimming, modeling, acting. Basically all sorts of sports and influencing. They say, people like us don't do these meaningless stuff. We have dignity and tradition.'
'Oh, l can feel the pain of belonging in a traditional family'. Suddenly turning, 'What about you Jiya? What do you think? 'I asked jokingly knowing she won't answer. But making me surprised, she really answered, 'l don't have any family, l don't know, how it feels.'
Kathy, reading my mind said, 'surprised? You won't believe what happened today if l tell you.'
'Really? I almost screamed hearing everything from Kathy. Great job, l am proud of you,' l smiled.
Kathy suddenly becoming serious whispered,' what about him? What happened after we left?'
'Joe? 'I whispered back.' Maybe, he is regretting by now. Let's see what happens.'
