I got off the bus and glance at my watch before crossing the street, now standing by a closed store.
2:35 A.M
I gave out a sigh which ended up turning into fog due to the fact of how cold it is.
*Flashback*
"Mommy mommy,"
"What is it Venus, you and Ben keep calling me every second!"
"Look!" I exhaled through my "O" shape lips, releasing my breath which turned into a white fog.
"I have superpowers! I can freeze everything, like that building over there." I pointed at a tall building to our left across the street, sunlight pass through the windows. Giggling with Ben, mom gave out a sigh.
"Yes Venus that wonderful-"
*End of flashback*
I snapped out of my thoughts as I watch the subway above me hurried across, screeching it's wheels across the rails.
I pulled out my phone and texted Mia. She's the only person I have left. Even through I don't trust her at all I have no other choice.
Thank the Lord she responded within five minutes mainly because there was a guy mumbling some shit while he kicked a rock as if he was angry. He kept walking with his back turned to me as he entered a black car and drove off.
My phone dinged and I looked at the screen, I let out a breath while I shut my eyes for a second. My face towards the night sky, feeling the cold air brush it self against me, I felt free. Mia just gave me an "ok" for staying at her house. I texted her thank you and she replied she's about to pick me up.
I guess she was already in her car when I told her I needed a place to stay for a night because a few minutes after I told her where I was at, I saw a white car with the windows down pull up in front of me.
A older woman I assumed was Mia's mother sat in the driver seat with a tired but happy smile. Mia in the back fully energetic, my heart sank at the thoughts that had flooded my mind. Just the fact of leaving Brenda, of how she had no one and she had so much joy and happiness on her face, I'm pretty sure she had it in her heart as well.
And here I was in front of a poor, tired woman who actually step out of her comfort zone at like three in the morning just to get my dumb ass for the sake of not getting kidnap.
"Well just don't stand there, get it!" Mia beamed in the back seat while signaling towards the passenger seat with her eyes.
I let out a small laugh and pushed in my seatbelt after I got in. "Thank you Ms. and Mia for picking me up this late." I glance at the woman and then Mia who had a big, bright smile glued onto her face, showing almost every teeth in her mouth.
"No worries love, I'm Mia's mother, you can call me Cora. And please no "Ms." or "Mrs." that sounds too old." She giggled at herself while I joined in as she came to a stop at a red light a few blocks later.
I had a feeling like Brenda and her would make a good pair.
"Some of Mia's friends are spending the night or maybe a week back at our place." She looked into the rear-view mirror, shaking her head at Mia. While she giggled at her reaction.
Mia resemble her mom alot. Her straight blonde hair, freckles and a dark brown mole on her bottom right cheek. Except Cora's eyes were brown and Mia's were blue.
"Your gonna have a fun time with all of us! Just you wait, you'll see."
The thought of there's gonna be a a lot of people, drowns the other thoughts from entering me head.
