Recovery is a bitch...
________
We checked out the hotel hours ago. We spilt our ways and decided to meet up back at my house after I gave them my address.
For some reason, Merikh tagged along with me and insisted being my "partner" as we check our places. We came up with a plan. We go see his house then mine- where everyone will meet up and then Brenda's.
"How far do you live?" I look at him as he tries looking around for a ride.
"Shush, and hold on." He grabs my hand and runs up behind a bus and held onto the pole. "Look like you belong here." He whispers in my ear. He puts on a smile following along his act while he points at the streets. "Ah I remember this when we were visiting mom and dad." I look at him confuse, but then realized we were getting weird looks and it's time to leave.
Ten minutes pass until we were ready to hop off but change of plans, Merikh grabbed my hand and pulled me off the bus. "What the fuck-"
He ignored me as he lead the way. He walked for a good twenty minutes until I was about to give up, we reached his stupid house.
Wasn't much different from my mine but yet I picked up a similar feeling as we stood in front of it.
I gulped as Merikh kicked open the door which I was convince was open.
Dumbass.
I felt the hair on my arms stood up as I look around the empty house. The house was in a state where you could live and make out with it but at the same time, might as well leave it.
"Stay here, I need to grab a few things." He glanced at me with a cold tone in his voice before leaving me.
He must've been out of his damn mind to think I'm gonna stay here by myself. I decided to take advantage of this opportunity and look around.
His house was very different of mine. Even if the house wasn't at the state where it is right now, it would've been a better household, I assume.
I walked into the living room to see broke frames and glass all over the floor. The place reeked of alcohol. I walked into the kitchen to see beer bottles on the floor some by the garage bin. The drawers were open while some dried up blood was on the counter.
I gasp as Merikh touched my shoulder. "I told you not to wander off!"
"I wanted to see your house." I look at him. I know even though our backgrounds differ somehow me and him have this connection from both of our tramuas.
"Let's go." He lead the way back to outside. I realized then next up was my house and my stomach lurked of the thought of my dad.
____
We stood outside my house as Merikh stared at me which is his signal of telling me to go first. "Let's go together." He broke the silence of us as I was drowning with my thoughts and chaos.
My heart was racing as my fingernail dig into the sides on my finger. Merikh broke into the house just like how we broke into his.
By now I would've expected the houses to be reconstructed and sold out but here we are. The house had a bad smell before even coming in. We covered our noses as we took a look around.
After all that had happen, most of it just stayed the same. Part of me wants to burn this entire house down but then the other side of me wants to just leave it and move on.
So much has happen over the last few months let alone year. I'm glad I found a group of people like Mia and Charlotte, they helped me forget about all of this.
I glance over to see Merikh following me from behind. For some reason, I was in a way grateful I have him. He's not my favorite, I don't even like him, but I'm glad I don't have to go through this alone.
"I made up my mind." That was a lie as many things cross my mind right then.
"I wanna set this house on fire and then leave." Leave for good.
I felt most of me would be satisfied and can come to peace if I just set this house on fire.
Merikh glanced up at me in shock but at the same time gave in with a chuckle.
"Ok let's go buy a few things-"
I cut him off as I pulled out the lighter from my bra. That was literally the only thing I had in there and I always told myself that would be my self defense weapon knowing damn well a knife was a better choice.
I glance at him again as he walked up to me. The pile of papers stating my fathers name was the perfect spot to set the fire. I flicked the lighter and then watch the fire slowly take over the pile of paper, far back I could see a picture of my dad and besides that was a picture of younger me and the entire family.
I wanted to grab it but it wasn't worth it. Everything here was going to fucking burn.
