I'm writing frantically when my friends join me at the table, all of them hesitant to ask.
"How you doing, Andrea?" Nikki asks in a slow, soothing voice.
"I'm trying to figure out this spell."
"Are you kidding? You've finished two weeks out worth of homework. How can you be confused?" Jacob demands.
"What? No. I'm making this spell and I believe I have it right."
"You just need to test it." Talia finishes.
"We can help." Brooks says. I raise an eyebrow.
"Are you sure? These could go really wrong if I messed up somewhere." I warn.
"How bad could it be?" Jacob says flippantly.
The first to be a test subject is Talia. We all meet up in courtyard to see if I can really pull off the spell I created to annoy my cousins.
"Ready?" I ask.
"Hit me." She confirms. I cast the spell and she cries out, not in pain but shock. Her entire right arm is missing.
"What the hell?" Brooks says as we go to her side.
"Okay. Everybody split up and look for a disembodied arm!" Nikki demands.
"That doesn't sound weird at all." Talia says, going with me.
"I'm sorry, Talia."
"We knew there could be consequences. We'll find it...right?" She asks hesitantly.
"Of course we will. And then we'll have Madame Pomfrey fix you up good as new."
I hope.
"Andrea! Talia!" Brooks calls, Jacob and Nikki rushing behind him as he runs towards us. "Fourth floor."
"How do you know?" I ask.
"Call it a hunch." Nikki says sarcastically, pointing to a trail of blood drops.
"So the fourth floor?" Talia says and we go down as a group. Soon the blood disappears but there's no door it could have gone into. Talia groans and leans against the wall.
"Come on. We're not done yet." Nikki says, she and I pulling her upright. We follow the boys who stop suddenly at a knocking sound. They look at us curiously.
"Might as well." Nikki says with a shrug. Brooks opens the door to see two seventh years having ...intercourse.
"Look here you maggots-" The boy growls.
"Found it!" Jacob exclaims, diving passed them to get Talia's arm-distinguishable by her bracelet and the fact that there are next to no dismembered arms in the school-and walks out triumphantly. The girl screams when she sees what Jacob picked up.
"You two didn't know you were fucking next to a dismembered arm?" I ask, a laugh in my voice. Jacob shakes Talia's hand at them as if a pointed finger.
"Location, location, location." He says. All of us save Talia are chuckling as the very disheveled looking seventh years run in the opposite direction; Talia, on the other hand, looks sick.
"That needs to be disinfected first."
"Oh yeah." I agree.
"Big time." Brooks says.
"And you need to figure out what went wrong and fix it." Jacob says as we walk.
"You lot are still willing to help?" I ask in shock.
